If your preferences lie in that area why not just go to the sites that are appropriate to your tastes. If we are to make any changes to the rules I think it would be more to the liking of the majority here, and more in keeping with the original teaching mission of the site, for us to abandon the so-called advanced rules and go back to all Basic rules challenges.

why do people keep telling me to go somewhere else because I would like to expand my horrizons a little. I am not asking for changes to the rules jsut that a new set added. It is obvious that many people like digital art based on the number of favorites those types of photos and photogs have gotten. This site is for learning and sharing why must it be jsut about what the vocal majority want. What if univeristys only taought the classes that the majority of the students wanted to learn.

I want to learn to be a better photographer and I feel this is a good place to do it. I am very happy with the way things are on that front and have already learned alot. why can't we have electives too. What is wrong with learning other things too? It would take nothing extra from the members that don't want it. I said I was willing to pay extra to help with the extra load on the servers and work by the admins and if several people did then I think it would be worth it to the site.

If you don't like it you could stay away. I didn't enter ZEN because I don't like the idea of that type of photography.

personally, i think we have had enough trouble in the past with just the two rule sets we have, adding another one would make everything more complicated.

If you want a great editing site gor to pixeladdiction.com ... its weekly editing contests. and we are telling you to go somewhere else to do this not because we want to see you go (shifty eyes ;) but because this sites emphasis is on photography...

You may have a point about complicated but where we all be in life if we didn't do things because they were complicated?

I Like most of you lead a life with many things in it. I like the comunity on this site and quite honestly don't want to invest any more time to another site. Photography knowledge is my primary concern so I want to stay here. It is obvious that most of you don't like the idea so oh well.

Since I can't take one more person telling me to go somewhere else because I want to learn something else and only a couple of people seem to share my idea I am going to ignore this thread. SC can lock it if you like since it is obviously not a well thought out idea. I will try better next time, thank you all for your responses.

Since most seem against adding a challenge and my idea of a second but connected site was ignored, how about a digital art section of the forums. Techniques could be shared and those who are interested in expanding their horizons could discuss ideas.

I guess since most are done reading this thread, this will be ignored too. Oh, well...

Hey, it's better than where people are telling me to go all the time.

Elvis has a point with regard to the number of people who obviously appreciate shots with more of a digital art feel than straight photography. As an additional example, this thread has been going on for about 3 weeks now with some great experiments posted to it.

We've had a challenge in the past where no holds were barred when it came to editing. Rather than tax site resources by adding a sister site or another ruleset, perhaps we could start small -- maybe add a extra challenge or two (similar to the speed challenges) where this medium could be explored.

I'd love to see a challenge done along the lines of the PopPhoto Contest. 10 Photos are selected from the site (challenge and portfolios- with photographer permission of course). And I agree that it doesn't really go into the main theme of the site. However, sometimes it's nice to have something different. I am not saying do this type of challenge twice a month or even twice a year, but the results could be very interesting.
