Yes, it happens, but it's still not very nice. When you have people that care for you, it's inconsiderate to leave for such a long time without letting them know where you're going or when you'll be back. They're bound to worry about you. I know that if my wife or one of my kids did something like that I would totally freak out. Thank goodness they know me well enough to realize that I̢۪d hug them when they came back... just before I beat the sh_t out of them.
On the other hand, maybe he lives alone and is used to taking off whenever he feels like it. I̢۪ve never met him, and we̢۪ve only spoken on the phone a couple times, so I don̢۪t know him or his situation well enough to say. I̢۪m certainly not pronouncing judgment on the guy. However, I̢۪d be willing to bet that a few people are mildly annoyed at him now. :D

Hello Everyone,
I am a good friend of the family. We are here in Salem, Oregon and have been worried sick. The latest info that we have is that Steve's car was located in the mtns and someone was sleeping in it-unidentified someone. His son and sister are in his home and see no signs of activity lately. They have been in contact with the local police and are working with them to get Steve found. Thank you-TINA-for your spot on the local news-it was freaky to watch but enlightening to know that there are people like you that care so much for Steve. We appreciate all of the ideas and assistance made by everyone. As soon as we know anything we will update you! Please keep your prayers and well wishes going for Steve and especially for his family!

Thank you for the information, Robin. We heard earlier police had been in contact with Steve - is that not the case? My thoughts are with you all.

The last info we have from the police is that they spotted his car in Superstition Mtns. There was someone sleeping in it but no actual contact. His son and Sister are at Steve's home, they have no new information. Keep the flyers and information going as he is still missing! |

I'm sure DPC will keep the vigil, Robin. Please post to this thread as often as you have news, we are all anxious to hear of his safe return.

I was able to download a copy of the news broadcast on ABC here in Arizona for anyone interested in seeing it. I will post it if you want, but I figure most saw it from BeeCee's link to the local ABC Web site.
Great interview Tina. |

the video wasn't on the website when I looked at it. I'd like to see it, so if you would want to post it, that would be very kind :)

Thanks Rex. That was the link I was looking for. I don't know how long they keep them in the archives, but I have a copy of the file for folks who want their own copy - maybe to share over a beer with Steve later :) I don't have a server to post it on and DPC does not allow me to upload that file type. It is in ASF format (Advanced Systems Format used by Windows Media) and is a 5.3 MB file. I am not sure if there are copyright issues with me posting it anyway, but I am sure having a personal copy of it does not violate that rule (as long as it is not publically broadcast). If anyone wants a copy, I can email a zipped file. Just PM me! |

That's what I thought too! He'll be happy about that, I'm sure. |

Technically the "old" ones have GPS locaters in em, people just didn't know it (more of a radio triangulation type thing). Mine has a setting (2 year old phone-not GPS) to have on always or just for 911 calls.

When the family was able to get inside, did they notice if his toothbrush, razor, medications, suitcase were also gone giving the impression that he'd planned to be away for a few days?
Still hoping for the best and that he is getting the most AMAZING photos ever. :)
