I love sailboats and race them whenever I can- big boats, dinghies, R/C models, etc. 1998 was the year I first used this name, hence the 98 at the end.

I can't belive that almost a year later this thread is still going strong. What have I done? I have created a monster :-))

But it is an interesting read.

I decided to bump it a couple days ago because there's quite a bunch of new user/members and I tire of all the political threads. This one is definitely one of the fun ones.

Mine is from a book I read in 6th grade, there was an inscription: "All I Refuse and Thee I Choose"= a-i-r-a-t-i-c. I have used it since I first got on the internet.

Way back in the 80's (I'm dating myself here!) in the somewhat 'primitive' days of mainframe computing, where I worked, pretty much all names and parts of names used in batch jobs were limited to a length of 8 characters. When I ran my batch jobs, instead of using the official boring bureaucratic names like OREPORTS, ICARDIN, ERRFILE, etc. I used food names like BANANA, PEACHPIE, and PIZZA. My batch jobs ran fine, I had a little fun with the 'funny' names, and I really drove the stuffed-shirt bureaucratic managers up a wall. FRYCHIKN is simply 'fried chicken' condensed into 8 characters so I could use it in my long-ago batch jobs. I have used it everywhere on the internet.

I am a New Zealander, living in Germany, therefore a bit patriotic. I wanted to use "Kiwi" (the nick name for New Zealanders like Ozie, Yank, Pom, Kraut, Frog to name a few) which I use on several other forums, but it was used here, so it got changed to A Kiwi.

Leonard's my first name, Jude's my middle name .....Jude Leo sounds pretty funky to me ;) feels like some arty fartsy name......and if you pronounce it fast.....it sure sounds like "Julio" (hoo-leo) ;)

About four years ago I went Snowboarding for the first time. I had to buy a hat before we went I found a really cool blue one with Three different shades of blue daisies on it. I had a great time on the trip and I Loved that hat. I started using it for an email address a few years ago. I think its a good user name so thats why mine is what it is.

Over the years I've joined so many various sites that require user names, there is just no way for me to remember all of them. I pretty much always use Turquoise now, or if that's already taken like it was here at dpc, I add my birthday to the end 9/19 -- turquoise919.

Turquoise is just a word that I like the sound of, like the color, like the stone. No huge meaning for me, I was probably looking at something that color when I first came up with it. I don't remember when I first used it. It's been many years.

Kinda wish I had a cute photography related one. I love fstopopen and blurry for example -- great names for this site.

I'd like to buy a vowel, Pat?

OK, Just Kidding. Being a computer lover(all around Tech lover, actually) and being a Leo gives me the inspiration and the Chutzspa to Call myself the Computer King! That, plus I get to use the Mel Brooks quote in my sig!

On efnet i used to be in a chatroom regularly by the name of Euclid, and this metamorphosed in to nicknames of Yukky, Euch, etc.. and eventually Yuki, although nowadays its nigh on impossible to get this username due to it meaning danger I think in japanese and everyone uses it.

am thinking of changing it to i0 as this is what I go by more now (10/ input/output/orbiting moon etc)

My name came from the Dimi-God Loki, the God of Mischief. The same Nordic God who helped kill Balder. The same God who was then placed under the snake that dripped poison on him as a punishment.
