Oh wow, I totally understand this. I'm incredibly arrogant and pleased with myself at times...okay, often.

That's funny to hear somebody else describe it like that...I'm the kind of person that feels like I'm sitting back a meeting and not saying a word while 'the others' talk and confuse themselves until...ahem...I speak and bring clarity to the situation. I say this all tongue-in-cheek knowing full well that all human arrogance is downfall, especially my own...

Ironically enough it's just as disturbing I think when people are excessively humble. Everyone has moments where they really are clever and leaps and bounds ahead of everyone else in the vicinity. I think what makes you wise in a situation like that is the way in which you present yourself and your ideas.

On the flip side, sometimes for me being clever is just a way to be separate because I don’t feel like I belong. Not because I’m better or worse, just not fitting the mold.

Mine is a variation of David. I'm a first-generation American--my parents were both born in Europe, and pronounced David with a Hungarian accent (my brother and I spoke both English and Hungarian as kids). Kind of like dah'veed. Some of my cousins who often heard my folks say my name that way called me "Dav" for short, so I spelled it sort of phonetically (except for the "ed," which someone said could stand for "energetic Dave").

How about: betterasme

As a man you are good, as yourself you are better, because you are being what you truly are.

I picture you more as a modern girl with a boys name. Like James or Ryan.

well I couldn't very well use photomax or drebelmax on a site like this. Before I got into photography my default screen name was Plexxoid. Doesn't mean anything.

Once upon a time, at some mythological age, my virtual-world's name was Space Anemone.
Sea anemone is one of the creatures I love the most. The space makes it a bit different.

But many many years have gone since, and my entire personality has changed.

Jinjit, on the other hand, was my real-life nickname, basically from the day I was born.
Since Jinjit in Hebrew means a red-haired girl, I find it so hard to understand it's origins...

Today, when I'm old and wise, I am trying not to keep such a wide distance between my virtual and real life. I have found that to be rather un-healthy.
So no more hiding behind unreal stuff. Plain ole' me. Jinjit.

by the way, the hebrew pronounciation is "Gingit" (the sound "dj") But I find Jinjit to be softer and with somewhat of a sexier french touch... ;-)

I know I have a silly username here. I got married 7 years ago, and about the same time I noticed that freaky kids show "Teletubbies." So I was excited about being married and thought it was kind of a funny email username at the time, and it kind of hung on since then. I just wonder, if my wife ever leaves me will I be able to change my username here? 8^)

Copied from the recently locked forum...

My name means nothing...

Well, actually it is a structural steel designation for a Wide flange beam that is 24 inches deep (top to bottom) and 192 pounds per foot of length - W24x192.

I picked that name when I was on aol and needed another screen name. I was in college and taking a steel design course (which sounds more fun than it actually is), I opened the design manual and said 'that one sounds cool.'

I have other screen names too, though not on DPC. All of them are somehow college related, though not engineering-wise. Most of those are either related to being too tired or being an outright dork.

I'm Catbird. Why? Well, I'm an animal nut (kinda a female Steve Erwin--but down a notch or two). I'm the proud mother of four cats and a parrot (Jason, Jack, Jamison, Abigail, and Spargel, respectivly), so Catbird seemed logical. Besides, there really is a bird species in existance called a catbird because of it's cat-like noises. I always found that pretty interesting, so Catbird I became.

I really considered being 'Spargel,' but I didn't want to be partial. Spargel, however, is a kinda special word to me because I grew up in Germany with a view of a field of asparagus (Spargel auf Deutsch) out my bedroom window. After moving to America, I really missed the place, so when I aquired my little green parrot, Spargel was the perfect name, as it fufilled that nostalgic yearning. Besides, it's such a fun word to say (Shpahr-guhl).

Back on the time of the first iraq war, I used to play soccer, as a back (zagueiro in portuguese). The coach always said I had a pretty strong kick for a young boy. He would always compare it to a scud missilem saying it was as fast as the scud. And that's my explanation for it.
I prefer the sound of it with the "S" in the end. But ppl insist on calling me (especially on the net)SCUD. I hate that LoL

since I am in the land where dreams are made, I just wanted to express how I felt about those dreams.

Sometimes it swings to the left of crazy, sometimes it swings to the right of stupid. And the overall length depends on greed, and self importance.

Beside, I am a member of the Oglala band of the Lakota Nation, and it is a pretty good 'indian' name being here in LA.CA.
