A reference to my youth, and a longing for the good old days. I use to play the 8th position in the Rugby Scrum. Played for five years between Belgium and South Carolina, but after the third trip to the ER I decided it was time to make a switch to endurance sports. I'm no longer on active duty, but my shoulders still snap and pop.

I don't remember....
I think it was around 1996 when I had to pick a new name for something online. I looked around the room, and all that I saw was a 4 foot iguana, the cats' litter box, and the case to the Indigo Girls tape I was listening to.
I also love the color.
Of course indigo is always taken so I had to add some numbers, and my birthday is 9/9/7*.
What's really weird is that we sort of start identifying with these names. I can't imagine changing mine now.

I was a groomsman at a wedding and the groom was introducing me to the only other groomsman I didn't know, a friend of his who he knew when we were at different universities. Without hesitation the guy just came out with "What's up, Jimmy the Fish?". It stuck. I am now the Fish.

My name is English name is very difficult to say in Cantonese. So my friends parents all call me "faidoi" which translates to "fatboy". Seems like all the parents have nicknames for friends ;). I'm not at the same weight as I used to be, but the name still sticks.

I got mine from when I was in engineering school and working on our school's solar powered race car for a cross country race. Anyway, I would get kinda uptight when things weren't going well and "Spaz" out. I think "Spazmo" came out of our crew chief's mouth one drunken night at the Knollwood Tavern. The 99 was the year of the race.

I use my User Name for just about everything on the net - it's hardly ever used.

I made it up when looking through a car magazine, saw an advertisement for the Toyota Celica, which had a tagline 'Sleeker'. I thought 'hmm, that would make a great licence plate for my Celica, only it's a letter too long - how about shortening it to sleekr', and after that, I started using as a User name.

My user name is basic. My first initial and my last name. I signed up early enough i could have had anything really, and I don't know why i didn't choose something better. Everywhere else I am nborton316. Most people think it has something to do with John 3:16, but it was just my room number in college freshman year.

for me, its an extremely common question...
and to tell the truth, few years ago I got sick of all the names I was using were being taken, so I just closed my eyes, and hit the keyboard a few time.. had cvt there, so thats been the only alias I have used online for past few years everywhere...
only once found cvt taken, so its as good as totally unique ;)

so no meaning at all ;)

My name is Harvey. I used to manage a softball team and some of the younger guys started calling me Cool Harvey because I didn't get as excited or emotional as they did. I shortened it and dropped the caps when registering for something online where I wanted to hide my real name and have used it ever since, about 4 yrs. now.

I was dubbed The Swashbuckler in college. I was a part of our school's fencing club, I took the the sabre mostly. The club's president and I would go on "recruiting drives" where we'd stop and fence just about anywhere there was space, the main square, dorm hallways, etc. You get the idea. The man that placed that moniker on me killed himself, so I use it as a tribute to "Roy from New York" (his nickname wasn't that clever).

I always choose names that reflect my current occupation.

When I used to work for Parks Canada as a heritage interpreter (natuRAList, not natuRist big difference there. Look it up) I use to go by Interpman. Interp for interpreter and man cuz I have male hardware.

My DPC nickname is Beagleboy since I now am a K9 Officer for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and that I work with a super-cool beagle named Snoopy and that I'm a guy. And no funny business about reverting from a man to a boy, alright? LOL!

Have a good one.

When I first joined DPC at the end of 2002 I chose the name Tyro which means beginner...but I didn't like it and changed it a few months later to Olyuzi (which I don't like anymore either but feel stuck with it now cause I'm not going to change after all this time).

Olyuzi is a combination of my camera make (OLYmpus) and the ultra zoom lens on that camera, which at the time it came out was dubbed the "uzi."

A little later on I came up with a sir name to add to Olyuzi (Aurzahav) which means golden light in Hebrew. I like the way the two names sound together.

Mine is just my first name - it's easy to remember then! Sammie is my real name - not Samantha or anything. When I was a girl I was teased for having a boy's name. That was a long time ago as I was born in 1955.

Je suis peure is from my bastardized high school French. It was supremely funny when I was 15 to find out that in French you HAVE fear (J'ai peur) instead of being afraid (Je suis peur). That means "I AM fear" (oh yeah, I'm really scary). It was even funnier to find out what "I am hot" means instead of "I have heat"....

I always cringe in international circles like this, because I'm sure someone knows what I'm on about and thinks I'm a real dingbat.
