What ever happened to the 'Hey SC, thanks for all you do' threads?

Here it is! BTW - Thank you Heather for all you do! You went well outside of what you were required to do to help me. You were extremely patient and helpful to me and I appreciate it very much. And I'm sure you are the same to many others. So take a calming breath and remember, lots of us love the job you guys do!

BIG THANKS

Kelli

edit to add: Amanda beat me to it! So if you want to move this there, that's fine too!

Same from me :)

but seriously, I do think that it takes a really cool person to volunteer thier personal time to help out/give advice to people they don't know from around the world with a hobby/profession/art/you name it that people would have to pay for otherwise

hope that's not too confusing

I'll add my thanks to the SC for doing what is usually a thankless job. From what I have seen and experienced, the SC are willing to work with participants, and results seem to be timely and fair. It is probably a frustrating and time consuming job, but the site could not function as it does without you.

I agree, even with my current thread on subject matter....

I appreciate and think for the most part the SC does a swell job in a difficult one.

:)

And HAPPY fathers day to all the Site Council "Dad's"

;)

Yeah, I'll join the team too. The Site Council does an amazing job here, and I don't people realize just how hard it is to manage all these entries.

Thank you all for the effort!

Cheers,

I'll add my thanks too. I am very glad this site abides by the rules and everything is fair here. SC does a teriffic job, you'll see no complaints from me.

LOTS and LOTS of thanks to SC. This place would not function without all the behind the scenes work you guys do! You deserve more than just a 'thanks' thread!

THANK YOU SC VOLUNTEERS FOR CONTINUING TO DO A TERRIFIC & DIFFICULT JOB!!!

You have done and continue to do an amazing job in an increasingly difficult role. I've always found you to be helpful, courteous, timely, professional, personal when appropriate, infinitely patient, and abundantly fair (even when you don't rule in my favor - LOL).

You go out of your way to make this place a better site for all of us with little thanks or gratification. You have my respect and admiration. THANK YOU!

Jimmy

I really appreciate the SC for their professional manner and high ethics. I've had 3 very positive experiences with the SC that could have been awful.

1st: I got carried away with having the opportunity to use multiple shots during the Triptych challenge and used the same photo again as a border. After entering, the comments let me know what I had done and a DQ request was given. I received the Request for Validation and submitted it, admitting to using the 3rd image again as a border and giving my thought process as to why I did it. I was very surprised to find that the SC carefully looked at the rules to determine if my faulty thinking was implied/stated in the rules. They didn't DQ me quickly even with my admission. I understood that they were looking at all the exceptions the special rules had created. Yes, I was finally DQ'd, but not without thought and consideration.

2nd: My Best of 2005 shot was DQ'd when my original and the steps I'd submitted didn't produce the shot I entered. It looked like an element was added. I knew I hadn't added an element, so I opened a ticket and appealed the decision. The SC immediately reinstated my image into the voting and allowed me to clarify my steps and show what I had done, EVEN THOUGH THEY COULD SEE NO WAY OF ACHIEVING THE RESULTS I DID WITHIN THE RULES. I could see where my editing steps weren't adding up, but couldn't figure out why (the edit had been done months earlier). Finally, I was able to duplicate the results from the original within the information that was in the original and submitted it. Ursula kept me updated on the progress and let me know of delays and kept me posted on the probable timeline for review. The DQ was reversed, the image validated and no one but the SC and me ever knew about it until now. That image stands in my top scoring images.

3rd: I asked to have a 2nd account for personnal reasons. Even though it was denied, empathy was given and an understanding stated of why I would ask for such a reason. I felt validated, even though denied.

I am so impressed with this voluntary body of people that would take such abuse as can be dished out. They don't tell you about all the times they bend over backwards to make things work out for us in our ignorance , naivity and, yes, even stupidity. They can't, it's not professional. Let's give them the same consideration. The SC is impressive!

SC volunteer their time to make this site run. It is most often a very thankless job, and we all know how much flack they take an awful lot of times. They do a lot that is visible and in public, but they also do a LOT of stuff we never even see or think about. Dq decisions, answering tickets, answering pms, discussing rules and site policies, etc. If you stop to think about it, the site wouldn't function at all without their effort and dedication.

On a personal level, I've had the occasion several times to interact with a few different SC members, photo validations, personal issues, questions, etc. and they have all given top notch help to me, and have never let me down.

So a huge thank-you, and a hearty standing ovation for the outstanding work they do, all the aid they readily offer, and of course the babysitting of all of us 'kids' :-)

Thanks all of you, and all though we may not show it, I'm sure a vast majority of us are very grateful, and WE LUV YA!!!

Well put, well said and I'll gladly pile my kudos on the stack of accolades to the Site Council here. A thankless, 24-hour, act of kindness so that we may have a fair place to play.

WTG guys!
