These are of my 3 year old filly with 9 days under saddle. Any suggestions on them would be appreciated. Thanks.

nice work.
i don't know if you did it intentionally, but the colour pix are very blue.

No I didn't. I noticed that when working on them. I am going to have to check the settings on my camera to make sure they are right. |

should be easy to fix with an auto colour in PS though.

I reworked one. I went to the selective colors and adjusted the blues. (I checked my camera and had it set for indoor lighting, oops)
Saintaugust, I like the way you adjusted that pic. Thanks. |

no prob. the originals are nice so i thought i'd take a stab at it.
i tried bumping contrast more but i lost detail in the horse's bottom. you might try it with the original, to give it a tad more 'pop'

Wow...if people are thinking these pictures (even the ones they say they corrected) are the correct color then you need some monitor changes.
The white balance is wayyyy off on most of those, and one of the ones someone said they adjusted the blues in came out just as bad as the original.
In my opinion the close up of the horse is a great shot, ruined by the incorrect white balance; even though someone felt it necessary to comment on it and say "great color"

err.. the point was to show the pics could be saved... i wasn't implying my version was perfect.. i spent about 30 seconds on it.

Perhaps you could do some edits to show what everyone else is doing wrong?
IMHO, the tone of your last sentence is the kind of thing that will discourage commenters. Maybe the person likes the hues of it? Maybe you're right, but please give some credit to the opinion of commentators

nevermind. |

Thanks for the great input!!!. I was the one that said I adjusted the blues to my own picture. I was trying to see if I could make any correction to it after realizing the mistake I made. Sorry it was just as bad as the original for you.
For everyone else helping me with this thanks so much. I greatly appreciate it.
I don't change the WB setting on my camera much because I usually do outside shots. Yes I messed up. I realize that now and I'll make sure I look closer at my settings in the future.. I apologize again to those who thought these pictures were completely awful. I was just looking for help here as I could tell something wasn't quite right and I am not a photoshop guru.

Here is a re-work of the original. I used a warming filter here. Does this look any better?

No apology necessary.
Looking through this thread, I see only one person with a negative comment and I can see that he hasn't participated much yet on this site. I think that his observations were pretty much on the money, however, he could have worded it in a little tamer way. I'd bet that he would do so if he had it to do over again.
Anyway, that was just one comment and you can just toss it out like you would your lowest test score in a series of tests.
Back to topic...this is one of the reasons why I always shoot in RAW. The flexibility that RAW gives you in processing (like adjusting the white balance) is something that I appreciate and take full advantage of. |

I did shoot in raw. So can I fix this in camera after taking the picture? |

I just found out where I can fix the photo wb. Thanks for the info. |

No, not in camera, but rather in your post processing software. I alternately use Adobe Photoshop CS and RAW Shooter's Essentials. In both, you can adjust the white balance of your RAW files as if you had adjusted the white balance BEFORE you took the picture.
RAW Shoter's Essentials is a fantastic program and can be downloaded from the internet for free. |

I was going to tell you where to find the WB, but I see you found it!
You'll also see, depending on your software, where you can adjust shadows and highlights, and exposure compensation. I have a feeling once you fix the WB, you may need to push the histogram a bit to the right with exposure comensation. Play around with everything, and you'll enjoy some of the possible results!
