A big "Thank You" to Don (posthumous), Team Sucks, and the thousands of voters who threw the sucker my direction. It is at times like this when I am compelled to quote the humble and gracious actress Sally Field. But I won't.

The mother boards were backlit by (2) 500 watt halogen lights about six inches from the back. I could only work on the shot for about 30 seconds at a time without melting the boards. The front of the boards were lit by painting with a flashlight and also lit with two leds from the original motherboards. The most difficult part of the setup was to get the two "buildings" perfectly parallel to each other. I learned way more than I wanted about perspective on this shot. Here is an outake to show what happens when the buildings are off parallel by about 1/4 of an inch.

To improve the final shot I would take out some of the junk and add a backlight. Thanks to everyone for the comments and suggestions made during voting - they are much appreciated.
Thanks again for the OOBIE, I'll display it proudly. And thanks to my sisters 2mccs and
aberration for their guidance and wisdom.

Congratulations to my favorite brother and my photography mentor. I am so proud to be related to an OOBIE winner. I know our mother is proud (although a little concerned about that Sally Field fetish).

Thank you for this baffling award. I am honored an confused. Let me answer the questions posed via email by Posthumous.

How does taking a portrait of yourself make it different from any other
type of portrait?

Well, it is of me. That's #1. #2, it is by me. #3, How many recent portraits feature Woodstock from Peanuts, Miller Lite, cows, a bucket, two shoes, and multiple smiley faces?

What is your interest in cartooning?

I've heard of cartooning. I have a good friend that makes his own comic strips, and I watch lots of cartoons on the TV and movie screen. My favorite movie cartoon is Secret of NIMH.

Did you know your shot would be desaturated or did that decision come later?

I knew from the start, but I had to figure our the way that I liked best. This is a quadtone that has a curve for a pinkish color reversed (that causes the weird pink highlights). Most of the stuff I post on here is a quadtone. Thanks for noticing.

What are the mysterious symbols in the corners of the page above your
head? Are you a freemason?

I am not a freemason, nor a mason at all, although I work with a number of masons, as my job involves construction. The symbols are (Left to Right) frowny face, house made without lifting the pen from the paper, a big grin smiley face, regular smiley face, bad charicature of me. No masonic symbols that I am aware of, but I suppose that I could write to them and ask that they select one for use a a future symbol. Who knows, that symbol may even end up on a future version of a dollar bill. That would be sweet.

Best regards

...and to you and Team Suck.

ps - the paper in the floor is the Rockwell painting to which my parody is made.
