I have models book everyday next week, and I'm looking for some inspiration.

I'm in the process of building a new website just for my portrait business so I've recruited a bunch of models for some sample photo's for the site. I have an some ideas for what I might be trying...it's going to be a mix between senior portraits and fashion photography. Basically, I just want to do really really cool portraits for people...not like the boring ones everyone else does around here.

Anywho...show me some of your examples, or examples of other people on the internet that you like... inspire me!

Here's some examples of my style of shooting;

Kinda artsy...kind fashiony...kinda portraity....you know

Thanks!

I really like the first one...nice colors. Most of mine don't have vibrant colors...something I need to work on.

These are all great! (well, except for #3 - I think you might have missed the focus, or else she needs to be sharpened up just a tad) But really, love the compo on all of them (especially the variety).

These are probably my best two. I'm not very good at portraits.

???????????

You will be surprised at how many people will choose a "boring" portrait over an "artsy" one when it is a picture of themself.

I am too lazy to post photos, but I would suggest two things if you want originality and personality:

1. Aggressive cropping - along with this concept would be dynamic composition and angles

2. Attributes - Make a conscious effort to understand your models stronger attributes and highlight them in the photograph.

She's got a very good point. "Boing" portraits often sell a lot better than artsy portraits. Don't art yourself out of business.

I know a lot of people:P

Mostly I just booked friends of friends....and people that I have met before at different times. I live in a town of 45,000 people...30,000 of which are college students. There is not shortage of people willing to have their picture taken here....all you have to do is ask really.

Thanks everyone for the example and comments!

Here are some of mine:

Most of the time I use myself as a model, because I don't know many people who'd love to pose for me.

Anyway, you can find more here and in the rest of my portfolio.
