I thought this picture was compelling. She is looking away and it doesn't look contrived. I like the contrast and the hair in the eyes. The picture is nicely edited.

I noticed your shot when you submitted it. I like! She was a model, but not hired. We traded some shots for me for some prints for her.

** Greetings from the Critique Club **

I really like this shot for some reason. I am not one who goes for studio shots much - but this was executed well. The model looks natural - not as if she has a forced look on her face. I think the composition and cropping is what really makes this shot. If this is a self portrait it was executed wonderfully! Definitely meets the challenge.

Well done and interesting. I guess the frown is contrasing but I would have given you a higher score if the model was smiling.

Good contrast. For me though, the face seems almost too washed out.

Thats just brilliant use of high contrast

Effective high-contrast processing. Hopefully the fact that the actual composition is also high-contrast will be recognised too. 7

looks like a photo from the 60's, which definitely contrasts with the title... does that count in this contest?

Great high key feel to a very visually appealing shot. Love the crop and the dark eye. Nice job.

Very good use of high cotrast. Very much like a high fashion photo. Nice job.

I really like this picture. I would like it better if it were cropped about a 1/2 inch under the nose... but I like strangely cropped styles...I think the lips pull the image down and with my suggested crop it has more of an impact.

shadow by nose is distracting...looks more like "depressed" than sophisticated

GREAT PORTRAIT!! Love the hair and the heavy on the eyes. Perfect use of the half face.
