yeah, watch out for my scores to dive back under 5 when still life and self portrait are announced... :D
(much appreciated, melissa) |
At least you've entered some recent challenges. I've been slacking lately. I'm not sure if it's because of my ADHD (I get busy doing one thing and the other thing slides---I've been reading a lot and watching a lot of movies instead of taking pictures) or if it's because I tanked so badly on the Negative image challenge. I'm not inspired by the current challenges. I would have liked to have done the still-life challenge but I let it slip pass. I did take pictures with my vintage Polaroid so maybe it's that I'm not feeling challenged by the current challenges. Yeah...that's it....

Yes, to judge by my lifetime average vote received and especially by my threads-killed count. But as long as I'm digressing, I choose to believe that my posts are so definitive that no further posts could possibly illuminate further. Then again, I may be wrong, but I'm never in doubt!

I was honestly considering changing my name to either Ursula or Sher but then I'd have to buy all new clothes...

With all due respect to Lesley...or anyone who's on the front page every (other) week and as well known, probably doesn't need any mention in this thread. I'd say she's pretty high profile with 1027 fave photo's, 40,315 profile views and having been chosen as a fave photog 305 times. She's about as underated, unappreciated and as misunderstood as Manny.
I was hoping to bring to light people/photographers that many of us have no idea even exist and should be recognized for consistently good and interesting work. There have been some really cool mentions thus far ...
pmotta..for example, comes to mind.
Keep'em coming....there are a lot more unsung heroes out there too...

one of the first artists I found here, she does texture:

she does mood:

and she exploits flatness (cf. my comments on Zenjohn above):

And stick to the RULES of the thread.
I'll put myself on here lmao.
Really, didn't realize she was mentioned so often. I don't sit here and look at everyones stats, how often they've ribboned ect. I was going buy posts ABOUT them. I guess I was thinking along the wrong lines. |

It's all good. To borrow a line from Kavey's post, "There are many photographers here who I feel don't have half the talent of Ursula and Sher but who are practically hero-worshipped in the forums - which is cool by me " which is pretty spot on...and that's why I started the thread...plus to find people here who are under the radar.
The "hero worshipped" thing is such a bummer...painful...almost High Schoolish given all the fine talent that goes so unoticed on this site. This community on the whole needs to dig deeper...
