Norton has a tiny fix file for this virus too. My daughter got the virus last night and this fixed her up.

Please don't type such things when beverages are being consumed.

You owe me a keyboard.

How that thing is spreading?

08/12/2003 04:24:57 PM · #14

This is not really correct. this is a worm and it seeks you out. If you are connected to the internet and do not have the proper software updates in place, you are vulnerable.

There are the details...

The Register

As far as I understand Windows 95, 98 and ME are all NOT affected.

no... browsing the web indicates that you are moving from site to site in internet explorer or some other web browser.

Once a machine is infected the worm starts scanning for more vulnerable machines (slowing up the net for non M$-puppets grrrr) and then infects these machines.
You don't need to do anything to get infected, just connect to the net :-/

My firewall has taken over 1000 hits on port 135 already today.

Edit: note to self: must type quicker!
