I have had my best challenge result so far with water so I am happy! I had a second choice this image but i do not know if it would have done better.

I still can't believe I tied kiwiness in this challenge. I couldn't decide which one to enter. I entered the landscape image and then pulled it at the last minute. Did I make the wrong choice? And here is another image. I used water + glycerin mix to get the "thickness" and viscosity in the drop ;)

This was my entry. I literally took over a few hundred shots to get just one drop. The halo is intentional. Without it, there would be no "catch light" so to speak thus leaving the other drops flat and "lifeless".

Congrats to the winners and a great challenge all around ;)

Cheers,

Rikki

Rikki, thanks for explaining.

I think you chose right, I like the drops more than the landscape. I am impartial to blue ;) but I do have a liking of the simplistic nature of the blue one. Just hope I can get out more and take some landscape or candids for DPC.

edit:
The other thing I like about the blue one is that there's slightly less distracting reflections on the coil.

I was going to call this The Mans Faucet.

My outtake, yeah it's leaning a bit, but I didn't bother to fix that, yet :P

My outakes:

My Entry, which did very well and im pretty proud of, my second highest entry ever :)

Drz01, i think your outake may have actually scored better for me than your entry.

Rikki, i like the blue color of the outake and the shape with the three drops of your entry, the drop of the blue is only better because it doesnt have the halo

Still not sure why the entered one didn't do as well as I'd thought it might.

Little difference between the outtake and the entry though editing steps were different. I just wonder whether the colouring of the outtake would have had a deterimental effect on the score.

Entry:

Taken at the same beach, same day, but I wasn't pleased with the sky.

Had a real nice version of this one all prepared but forgot to log steps so decided to shoot something else and come back to this for more (lots) work.

This was the first woody shot I tried for the challenge after I decided against the above image.
