EDIT/UPDATE Just a quick update for those that dont' read the entire thread. I now have a graphic to use. These are all wonderful shots, but most include kids (not really appropriate for what I need), or hands (I'm using one already for a different part of the display.)

Thanks anyway for all your efforts and feel free to keep posting!

I am putting together a display for our church and I'm looking for a photograph (or any graphic) that I can use. We are having a "Ministry Fair" highlighting all the stuff that goes on at the church and my display is for "Stephen Ministry". Stephen Ministry trains laypeople to sort of journey through rough times one on one with someone who is in need. Pastors just don't have the time for a lot of on-going presence one on one. Mostly we just are present and listen, pray etc. The needs can vary from unemployment, illness, grief, depression, parenting issues, spiritual issues...whatever. We're not counselors and don't pretend to be. We're just there on a consistant basis.

Anyway, my part of the display is characterizing the general purpose of the ministry and I have broken it down to "Caring, Comfort, And Compassion." I have graphics for comfort and compasssion and permission to use them. I don't have anything yet that I like for caring. It needs to be useful in a 10"x16" crop.

Anyone have any ideas they'd be willing to share or give permission to use? Thanks for any ideas.

Judy

Don't have any pics, but what about taking your camera to your local soup kitchen and helping out whilst you're there, or maybe visiting a local day care centre? I'll keep thinking - let me know if I'm on the right track?

Not bad ideas, but I have been home sick all week and I have to have this complete by tomorrow evening. I have pretty much all the components I need, but I'm just not happy with what I originally intended to use for caring. I do wish I had thought of an idea like yours earlier.

Would this one be of any use. I have printed this out large before and it looks great...not as soft as it appears here.

Those are both awesome shots. The one I'm using for "Comfort" is - understandably - the "Comfort" winner...of hands. She gave me permission to use it. So, I think I'd rather not have another one that focuses so much on the hands. Actually, using hers is what gave me the idea to see if there might be one here for caring. You've got the right idea, though.

If this one might work for you, you are welcome to use. It's also available in color.

What a sweet shot. I know I'm sounding picky - but you know how it is when you have an idea in your head...

This is a caring shot but, because the ministry deals with adults, If there are people in the shot I'd like them to be adults.

Keep posting the photos (just 'cause I think they are touching and fun to look at), however I think I found something that will work. It takes me down a slightly different path than what I envisioned.

I'm going to use this:

I plan to get rid of the scripture and add my own text. I figure these folks are going throught the storms of life, so this would be appropriate and I like the graphics.

This is from a site called "Heartlight" that I have used many times in the past for power point slides for church.

Anyway...thanks for all your help!

That was a good shot...more along the lines of what I wanted. I was hoping, really, for sort of an arms around each other hug sort of thing without real emphasis on the face...maybe taken from behind or softer focus/special effects. Something that would convey the feeling without a real noticable individual, if that makes sense.

Didn't find that, but went another direction and came up with a nice graphic to use with it.
