I took a TON of pictures today at the Storybook Parade held by our PreK-K campus and our 1st-2nd grade campus. What a blast! Each class had chosen a book and the kids all dressed in character or carried signs or masks to represent their class story. I think there were 55 classes participating, and about 600 students. I think I took 405 pictures. My two youngest were both in the parade in their classes, and I only intended to take pictures of them, but you know what happens when you get in a crowd with a camera...if you're like me anyway. ;)
I looked through all the pictures many times but this one kept hitting me squarely in the chest. I would have loved to save it for education, but it's not advanced editing and it really lacks a little punch just as shot. This is what I felt it needed and I wanted to share it with you guys.
It's kind of ironic, because my two-year DPC anniversary is tomorrow, and after two years of learning everything I know now about photography, this particular image, with all it's flaws, bad focus, insane contrast, icky lighting, and awkward angle, is shaping up to be one of my personal favorites ever. I think maybe I've learned more about me than about snapping pixels over the last two years. :)
