I had to stop voting. After looking at the images and trying to vote I find it impossible. Just because two 'things' are in the picture doesn't make them an odd couple. Very few of the images, in my opinion, meet the challenge. Sorry if that upsets anyone (I doubt it will) but it is my opinion and I am entitled to it.
Side note: I really wish people would vote as the rules state "highest consideration to the challenge topic" and not the 'pretty picture.'

I don't think you are allowed to use the word reasonable for a score that high, especially when it is so much higher than your overall average. I think something like awesome, great, fantastic, etc. might be more appropriate. :-)
When you use the word reasonable for your score, what kind of word am I supposed to use for this s^!@ ....

The biggest consolation to this score is that I think I have a shot to finish in the top 100. ;P

Hmmm... I've already received a few PMs saying something along the lines of "how does this meet the challenge but nice shot!". Well folks, I could have used a title that instantly showed you what I was aiming for or, could I be testing the DPC waters again (as I did before) and made it more subtle? n as much as I would like to increase my average score received, I am particularly interested in a certain DPC demographic ;) So forget the score for now and let the experimentation begin ;)
Like I've said, please take some time to look at the images. Things aren't always as they seem. When you do realize that you missed it, it's like saying "Eureka! I see it! I'm one of a few" :)

I have to agree with Alienyst that there are a lot of photos depicting odd acts and circumstances by two of the same and that doesn't qualify them as odd couples.

Mine surely fits the bill :) No one sees it though. And it's right there in broad daylight or night whereever you are :)
Come to think of it, had this image been handled differently, I think this would be in the top 5 considering the other images ;) |

I'm thinking there are going to be many interpretations for this challenge based on the loosely worded challenge description:
"Create a photograph befitting of this topic."
It's almost like you can fill in the blank. Odd couple of ______.

I am anxious to see what ribbons here..I saw 2 images that I love. 2! A good 70% DNMC IMHO :)
I have not entered challenges because I can not think of a shot that fits, I find it disrespectful when people enter any old picture, to both those of us who really work on fitting the challenge, and to SC who take time to design the challenge.
Rikki, next time just enter a picture of your cat :) |

That would be too obvious Rae :) Too simple. A few comments are trickling in that people say "Oh I see it!" but a majority is like "WTF?" Hehehehehehe!
Score update:
Prediction: 4.85
Actual Score: 5.0158
Think "Where's Waldo" then you'll see ;)

I think I seen it Rikki. Even if it's not yours I left a comment for whoever went that deep. Maybe I just read to much into it.

Maybe it was someone who figured it out from the hints and was ticked at uncovering the anonymity? Nope...wasn't me. Honest! ;^)

Nah highly doubtful! A lot of the images had to be deciphered to realize what was the Odd Couple. Mine included. Mind you, this challenge if for Odd Couple not "What's Odd?" or "That's Odd". We had that a few challenges back.
Anyway, a score of 1 due to spite, in my books, sounds like a sore loser :) No worries. After that 1, got a 9 and now I'm back above 5 :)
If folks get ticked about anonymity, gimme a 1 so I can add the Brown Ribbon to my stash :) Hehehehehehe :) |

In your mind it fits the bill because you took the picture. But the voters are not you. So if it isn't doing as well as you would like you can write it of as a 'test' or 'experiment' or whatever you like. But it doesn't change the votes. And talking about your shot so much, I now know which is yours. Why don't you just keep quiet about your shot? Anyone reading this thread should know which is yours. Not very anonomous.

Wait until next Sunday my friend :)
Edit to add: I mentioned this in a prior thread before the challenge even started :) I agree that in my mind it fits but the few who gets it also thinks it fits very well. As I said, wait until next Sunday and you tell me if I'm wrong.
BTW: I think it's all about testing the waters here. How are you to succeed if you don't tread the cold waters? If that means trying to get a pulse on how voters react, so be it. Like I said, I'm not concerned as much on the score. It's actually a fun challenge ;)

Hey all. It was Rikki who said give me a 1, not me.
Would whoever is giving 1's out there please stop?
dropped from 6.76 to 6.68 in 1 vote. |
