I have a D50 with a 18-55mm and a 70-300mm. I have a wedding to do in a couple of days. Any suggestions on a good lens for around 300 dollars???????

Tamron 28-75...but it's more like $379 than $300...and worth it.

I'm not sure what might be available in that exact price range, but I'm sure the knowledgeable folks around here can help. :)

Get a 50mm f/1.4 for those low light indoor shots.

I agree 100% 50MM Prime for low light, it will be the lens you use for the entire party....the 300 is awesome for outside "I DO's"

Generally a fast lens is recomended. The most popular choices:

(I'm a canon guy, so forgive some of these choises)
17-40F4
24-70 2.8 L
sigma 18-50 2.8 EX
tamron 28-75 2.8

and then any 70-200 2.8

depending on your style, a 50 1.8 or 1.4 or a 85 1.8 might work too. and a fisheye is nice for a few shots.

i know several photogs that use a 28-200/18-200 lens and flash. with flash you shoot f5.6 or so, so a fast lens is not as important.

FLASH and know how to use it, mostly as fill, but many churches have mixed lighting and if the flash is not the main light you will have WB issues that are nearly impossible to fix (so you amke them all b&w!)

Ask the preacher what rules he may have. most do not allow flash photography during the ceremony (hence hte fast lenses!) and may restrict your movement/location.

SHOOT IN RAW! Take 4 to 5Gb of cards with you. Raw will allow you to easily fix WB and bad exposure issues, and if you are using flash at a wedding you will have both in a at least a few shots.
