Manic and I may be in NYC sometime in mid to late April and we'd be interested in a GTG then but it's hard to say without date. We don't even have a date for our trip to NYC so we won't really know till much closer to the time.

Someone's got to throw out the first suggestion so I will go for it.
Sunday April 2nd
It's before the holidays which are later in the month
The weather should be reasonably comfortable by then
It's before heavy tourist traffic
It's the day between the semi's and finals in the Final 4 |

April 2nd seems fine for me, April 19-21 or dates in between could work too.
Honestly...I have no interest in the Statue of Liberty or anything hyper-touristy. As a New Yorker, born and raised, it is my absolute sworn duty to never visit the Statue....and I hope to keep that record in tact. ;) |

well then I suggest that we have 2 meets/gtg's April 2nd is good and then maybe one a week later or the end of the month for those who dont want to do statue of liberty.
we did the 2 meets before a week apart and it worked out well.tu

How about April 2nd and April 22nd? This way it'll be Sunday and Saturday and maybe it'll persuade Manic to stay a day longer.

Either sets of dates is workable for me, and hopefully I'll have caved and picked up a digital SLR to replace the 35mm outfit that I abandoned when I went digital in the first place.
I am, however, with Pawdrix on not being keen on the Statue. Fine views of Lady Liberty from the hassle-free Staten Island ferry, and aside from the silly things that tourists sometimes do *grin*, there's little else of interest to photograph when you're isolated out there on Liberty Island. Manhattan and the boroughs are so full of life, great urban architecture, and food finds to keep you going along the way... |

I think that in order to decide on locations we ALL need to say where we want to go. Since Tranquil had started this tread, he will need update that info next each persons name. That way we will know where most of the people want to go.
Come on everybody yell out your wishes.

I will be in town the 8 and 9th of Feb. Gotta book the tickets... Sunday late afternoon and evening are out, but other than that...
I have no interest in going to statue of liberty or other touristy stuff either. The off island stuff sounds quite interesting...

Looks like we're onto something...
Top Of The Rock is (imho) the absolute, best view in the city.
