"We're super excited," said Boone, a chemistry professor. "We've been looking for such a number for a long time."

It's a little known fact, but there are three different kinds of math geeks. Those who can count, and those who can't.

And there are 10 kinds of computer geeks. Those who know binary and those who don't.

I'm absolutely thrilled by this news. I can't wait to put it to practical application.

And (not being a math Guru (at all!)) what is the practical application of this?

M30402457 just happens to be the exact number of worldwide jellybean consumption. We can now describe the phenomon accurately.

I didn't know you were a cryptographer! Or is it for your new and improved hashing algorithm? ;-)

Though scientists are still puzzled about why jellybean consumption is vastly higher than the number of atoms in the known universe...

I think there is some truth to this actually -> One of the brightest people I have ever meet was one of my Calculus lecturers but he could barly add several numbers and get the right sum. Also seemed to forget where he put stuff down often - not scatter brained, just was not that relevant to him.

Now, Crazy complex maths, pattern recognision e.t.c. he could do off the top of his head in a flash - scary scary personality.
