Hmm I've re-started doing mine every day, well at least some photo. I got a little behind as uni work was all a little over-whelming recently. Back on track now though!
Sorry I've not commented that much yet to date, I've been a little nervous about such things, as I only started into this photography realm at the beginning of January. New beginnings in many senses for me :)

I have been very bad with commenting lately...I apologize. I get busy and forget, or plan to do it the next time I log on, and something always happens and I forget. Life with kids and a full-time job has a way of doing that to a person. ;)

I can't speak for other people, but I use my link list as a stepping point for commenting. There are a few people that I try to comment on every day, a few others with themes where I like to see the whole week at once, and a few others that don't comment on mine but I like their work and want to visit anyway. I might not visit someone for 2 weeks or more, but if that's the case I try to comment on more than one shot to make up for it.
Actually, I just deleted some non-participaters from my link list today - either people that quit or just don't post daily for one reason or another. I've subscribed via Bloglinesto some, so that I don't have to miss out on seeing some great shots.
It's just not realistic (unless you are Hye5, :wink) for everyone to comment on everyone else's PAD every day. There are over 40 people participating now, and I probably have missed a few latecomers. Once a week is more reasonable, but as James' said, commenting wasn't a requirement. It's just what makes it fun. I've made some great friendships during this project, which has made it more than worthwhile.
So, if you don't want to link to someone else's website, for any reason, what's the big deal? It's not like there is referral money at stake.

I'm not quite understanding what you're saying here maybe, it's after 3am ;)
I do comment on other PADs, when I can that maybe only once a week but on a few of the PADs but I have and do comment. Believe me, it's difficult enough just to find the time to take a PAD, I would never have time to comment on the other 61 PADs and nor I think would anyone!
The purpose of doing a PAD, for me, is to take pictures. Not to recieve comments and praise and to that end, I certainly don't expect them. They are nice to recieve but I do not expect them and nor IMHO should anyone else. As I stated before, there was never any requirement to leave comments, we are just a group of people who are doing PADs and have linked to each others.
That said, your PAD shots are fantastic, love your work. And I am going to bed. ;)

It has never been a requirement to comment on PaD's, on DPChallenge entries, on anyhting. It is a courtesy to help each other grow. To help oone another learn what does and doesnt work. My commenting has been amiss lateyl only because of a personal matter that has taken precedence, but I will continue to comment on those who do the same for others.

Geez Soni, What took ya so long to come to this conclusion, lol, I cleaned up my list at the start of the month. Prior to I had visited every one on the list at least once or twice a week, if they didnt leave me at least one comment in the whole month, and/or were not actively posting pics anymore, I removed them from my link list. This way those who do comment, even once a month, see my comments a lot more, usually 2 or 3 a week at least.

I like comments. well, actually I love them! They make me feel good. They help me to learn. I post mine for comments yes, but I also post my PaD's for a journal into my life so my kids can treasure it later. You can not tell me it doesn't make you feel good to get a comment. :-/ |

I know it..I am all for giving someone a second chance..so back up everyone goes and back to commenting on all them again through out the week. I am a social bug...hehehe.. |

I have been abysmal about commenting...sorry guys. I try to do chunks when I can. Thanks to everyone who's taken the time to comment on mine and especially to the folks who seem to comment every day without fail. |

I don't expect comments. I love to get them and I always return every comment that I get, but I would sure hate for anyone to feel guilty for not commenting or feel pressured into it.
I do my PaD because I am learning sooo much from doing it. It forces me to think about photography every day.... after day.... after day... :)
There are some PaDs I really like and I visit every day and comment often. Others I just get to occasionally. Either way, I really don't see commenting as a measure for being part of our PaD community.

Welcome back Saracat... I hope all is well, and I will make sure I get to your PAD as well soon.
As for the rest of the discussion, I am doing this project for myself, but I do like and appreciate comments. I am sure others feel the same way. That is why I try to go out of my way and comment as much as possible. Lately I have been busy, so I apologize for not being as prolific as before. I do find that commenting on others' PADs seems to 'guilt' them into commenting on mine. That being said, I understand how hard it is so I really am not expecting it.
I do need to go through my list and shorten it. There are so many PADs, I think I am going to stick only with those who are trying to post daily, as I am. For those who have dropped off or who post once in a while, I probably will take you off my list as well, simply because there are so many involved here.
Thanks again everyone for your encouragement and comments... they are appreciated and I am enjoying the experience. I will continue to try to comment as often as possible.

I missed yesterday, which made for the second time, but I'm okay with that. :-) I have been finding it hard to keep up with commenting though, I'm ashamed to say. :(

Don't feel bad, I can't find much time to comment either. I do make try and make sure to reciprocate to those that commented on mine but I just can't do them all. I'm lucky if I can get my photo done! ;-)
Way to go everyone. Two full months done. That's a great start.

I haven't been commenting much at all lately... Just not enough minutes in the day, and when I *do* get some free time, I like to spend it having real-time discussions with friends and whatnot.
However, I do appreciate each and every person that continues to comment on my own PaD, however frequently or infrequently.. makes my day. |

I've basically been ignoring the whole 'community' aspect of this...the first time I did PAD it was only for myself anyway, and I only posted it online because a few friends were interested in seeing them. I don't expect comments or linkbacks or anything, and I'll have to admit that I only stop around and look at people's shots every couple of weeks, and rarely, if ever, leave comments. I've been so busy that even my own PAD is falling behind...pressure to 'participate' with everyone else might cause me to give up altogether because I don't think it's worth that much to me. I don't mean to be an antisocial snob, but then again I don't consider myself that much of a social person to begin with...I mean, yes, I've recieved some great feedback and met some awesome people and have seen amazing pictures, but hell, sitting in the corner and quietly taking pictures by myself is enough for me.
As a side note, I really do appreciate all the comments and views I have gotten.
Anyway, I really don't feel obligated to leave comments...when I'm bored of if something really screams out at me I'll probably comment, but that's about it.
Wow, I didn't mean to rant, sorry ._. |
