Or just what do you think things

I am going to really concentrate on the photography side of my business, going to stop the other stuff except for existing clients and the name Gimmeaminute just doesn't really work for Photography as it was pointed out to me by two different sites that it implies I'm going to rush in, take the shots and rush out. So I'm looking for another name for the Photography.

Now the Slogan I'm leaning towards is:

Give Me A Moment.......I'll Give You Forever

But Give Me A Moment Photography, while not sounding as rushed still sounds like it might be more of a wham, bam, thank you ma'am type thing. So It's back to the drawing board for a new name.

I don't mind the Neufer name in the business name as it is a known name, especially here in the Heights and that alone could open a few doors for me. And to start with I'm going to specialize and concentrate on Children, Animals and Candid Photography more than the portrait and wedding stuff, though I hope to move into that area before I am done, heck I hope to move Terry into that area before we are done but that's years down the road.

Right now I"m thinking names.............

Neufer Photography

JEM Photography (Using the kid's initials, James, Ellie, Melissa) Also the "misspelling" of Gem to Jem might get attention but then again it might be people thinking I'm an idiot who can't spell too.

DLN Photography (using my initials)

Moment's in Time Photography

Forever Photography

Any other ideas, any jump out and say CALL ME!?

I kinda like the simple .....

Deannda Neufer Photography

It says who you are, gives them a name when they ring to book apptmts, says you're proud to stand behind your name and your work.....just my initial thoughts :))

One thought. I wouldn't just use your last name. People who may not know that's your last name might see it more as 'New For Photography'. Also, having your last name next to the PHO in photography kind of sounds like a kid with a bad stutter. neu fefefefer photography Seems like too many F's to me.
You know, like you're picking out a name for a kid, you want it to flow nicely. Seems the best idea to make it your name, but it just doesn't flow right.
Forever Photography seems like such a neat name...but it doesn't flow comfortably either.

Might be on to something about the 'F' thing. But in the vein of keeping it simple and still using your name, what about switching it around:

I'll put money says the JEM one is taken. If I emember correctly when I was working on the top floors of the scotia tower I had a cleaning crew with JEM Enterprize and I have seen other names around Toronto that use JEM. Might not be such a wise idea to resemble other company names. I'd go with a more unique name or one like tater has suggested.

To avoid the too many "f" sounds, what about

I like the idea of just using your name Deannda Neufer Photography - it doesn't restrict you to any particular genre of photography and it's minimalist - it's not going to date.

If you don't like that idea, then I'd go for something equally simple such as Moments In Time - you don't need to labour the point and go with something too complex such as capturing your moments or anything - it's a photography business - that goes without saying that you'll be capturing images and creating photographs.

Then again, that's still kind of... tacky or maybe that's a touch harsh - it's a bit cliche...

I like simple myself and something completely different might help you stand out?

The Studio/ The Photo Studio (although that still restricts the genre as it suggests you don't do outdoors work which you do)

Image Factory

Photo Factory

Image Express (I like the idea of the concept of expression as well as a journey)

Image Impact

Picture You Photography Services

Picture It

Image-ine (or some variation that gives both Image and Imagine)

Do we get one of your prints as a prize if we come up with the name or the idea that you use? ;o)

Be sure to check U.S. Trademarks before selecting anything. You may also have to check with your state. Most of the names Kavey listed are trademarked (including "Moments In Time", "Photo Factory", "Image Factory", "Image Express"... those are the only ones I checked.)

Good advice. Also, what she will need to do in NY state to register her dba in her county is check that the name is not registered as a business within her county. (Other laws may apply as well.)

I had friends who wanted to register their wooden picture frame business as Just In Time (they made family trees) but some sleazy auto dealer was already using it---in fact, he still is. So it's important to know that even if the businesses are very different in nature, there may be restrictions on registering a business name already in use in your area.

Oops, so much for not being cliches! Sorry, I made them all up so didn't think to check if someone else got to them first!

Some really good ideas here!

I'm creating a sub domain on my regular site and should have it up, sort of by the end of the day, selecting pictures now of what to put in. Got most of the other stuff done, now just the picture part, joy!

Deannda
And yes, the name I finally choose, the suggestor will get a free 8 x 10! :)
