You just can't please everybody.
My last comment on this weeks challenge reads :
"okay its good but u should of givenit a better title, 4 "

I guess it was too descriptive, and not abstract enough. Perhaps I forgot the word "macro" or "closeup".
Oh well.

Yet another reason we should do without titles for a while
Even if you still title your photograph.. just have it not show up until after voting is over.

Relax, the title probably didn't change the person's voting and it is just one individual's opinion. But still, maybe their suggestion is worth considering. I would probably prefer having no titles at all for these challenges but I also enjoy really clever titles that support the photo.

I know that. If having fun wasn't the primary reason for being here, I'd move on. Secondly,I'm here to improve. Scoring is a distant 3rd.
It's just after all the posts on titles or no titles I've seen here, I'd thought I'd share this.

I don't know. I think we should keep the titles. It makes for more entertainment in my opinion. Sometimes I really get a chuckle out of the whole title/photograph combinations. I feel that eliminating the titles might make the photos too static/boring, especially when the theme is really specific (the Pencil challenge, for example).

Jut my $.02 . . . $.0314 Canadian :)

At that rate of exchange I need to visit Vancouver again soon!
Titles are my specialty, so I'm not only in favor of them, I'll even try and help out someone who's stuck if desired...

I think good titles add quite a bit to a photo, but I also think that bad titles take away from it... I try to keep the title out of my scoring though... The only time i bring it into play is if I don't think the image meets the challenge without the title...

Maybe we should have a title contest. One picture is posted, then we all get to name it.

Personally, sometimes the picture needs a title to help make sense of what the photographer had in mind. Like Jim says though, a poor choice can hurt.

Though I would never grade a picture down because of the title. Usually I look at the title second, and then really only if I am looking for help on what is supposed to be going on.
