Hello
I been glimsing at this site for a while now, and made a account for a little while ago! But i really never took the time to be here more.. really sad since this site is amazing!
Now to the troublesome part, since im new i really dont know anything about this site, i cant handle to much!
I dont know if i can uppload any photos!? (without "joining as a paying member")
Where do i find the basics of navigating this site? Entering challenges and so on!
Hoping for some help :) thank you! |

Hello and thanks for the welcome Strikeslip and suemack!
Thank you for the link to the FAQ, it anwsers a few of my questions! Though it doesnt anwser how to uppload photos! Is this a subscription feauture only (Im sure i misspelled a lot of thoose hard words)

Hi, I too am new, it is not as daunting as it seems!
You don't have to be a paid member, though you are limited to the open challenges only. If you pay, then you can do anything...
If you want to enter a challenge for example, just hit the submit option.
You then browse the drives on your computer and the image is uploaded to the site for you. Dead easy!
I am just waiting on the "Shoes" challenge results for my final score on my first submission - currently on 4.85!?!
Oh - make sure you read the rules on editing and picture size/format else you risk disqualification!

AHa thanx a little light bulb just occured over my head :)
Ok well i hope that i can enter this branch contest, im at work and last day for submiting is today! I think i got one thats good for a contest!

| Welcome! I'm new too and a bit over-whelmed as well.A photo expert I'm not.I just like to take pictures.I don't have alot of the stuff(like photoshop)that alot do.I have entered 2 challenges,shoes&HC,and one of the comments suggested I do this this and this to my picture and I had no clue what they were talking about.I'm hoping to learn like you.I love the site! Alot of beautiful pictures!Hope you enjoy!!!!! |

Hello and welcome to all the newbies. There is definitely a lot to learn about the site and from the site. There are quite a few tutorials (found under the Learn menu) that address a variety of things, from editing techniques to how to use the forum code. Do make sure you read the rules before submitting, or the advanced editing rules for the member challenges.
There are some things you miss out on if you're not a member - you can't upload photos to your portfolio, you cannot enter advanced editing/member challenges, you have less frequent score updates, etc. However, if you choose not to become a member, there's still plenty to do!
Questions are usually answered pretty quickly in the forums or you can always contact a member of the Site Council. Check out which one of us is online to get a faster response - we're the ones with especially goofy icons next to our names. |
