I would never knowingly add my signature to an entry. But I'm so used to adding my signature to all my photos for other sites, that this time, I forgot and added it.
Of course my entry was DQd. What I would like to point out is that my signed entry has been there waiting for almost a week and I wish it had been checked in advance, before the challenge began, instead of only after it began. I would have gladly removed my signature from my entry and not been DQd.
I understand that of course no sign allowing anyone to recognize who submitted an entry should be added to a photo entered in a challenge. I am not questioning this principle. Just the fact that I think these things should be checked in advance, not after the challenge has begun. |

Isn't this what YOU are supposed to do BEFORE entering? If you didn't, it is only your fault and not anyone elses for not requesting a DQ earlier as you are the only one to see it before voting starts. |

I think it would be much easier for each photographer to take responsibility for his own entry than to expect a group of 20 people to pre-screen 400+ entries a week, in addition to fielding DQ requests of the current 400+ entries. |

I totally agree with Alienyst. I get sick and tired of people not taking responsibility for their action. "well it their fault I was dq'd" How about sucking it up and saying, I was wrong and should have read ALL the rules before entering. I will now get off my soap box.

When I submit an entry, I work at it very carefully, as I do when submitting any photo to any site, and I do all my checking then. When all was good on my shot, I added my signature (:o{) and resized the image. Then I submitted it and forgot about it, because I had done (or so I thought) all my quality checks before submitting it.
When you don't even suspect there's anything wrong, you don't go checking again and again. You assume it's all ok.
Oh well.

Why can't you be responsible for checking that your work meets the rules?
You can obviously read and understand the rules.
It's too bad that you got DQ'ed, but you don't have anybody to blame but yourself.

All you can do is to chalk it up to a learning experience :)
You'll never do that again, now will you?

As I said, I understand why the photo was DQd and I do not question the principle. Also, I thought I had done all the checking necessary. My point isn't Oh, poor me, I've been DQd!, but rather if they're going to tell me something is wrong, why not do it before it's too late? |

Testy...yes at times. People this day and age don't want to be responsible for their action. Its everyone elses fault and not theirs. And I'm not just talking about what Louison has done. Its just alot of people in general. With all the PC (politically correct) crap going on (oh I don't think that all PC is crap but alot of it is) people can now get away with anything and the guy or girl that plays by the rules gets stung. Ok..again I will hop off the soap box. |

Tell me why they should have to tell you before the submission deadline?? If every time I unsubmitted and resubmitted a photo they would have to check and I submitted and resubmitted probably 5 times. They check once the submissions are complete. Take responsibility...check your work BEFORE you submit. You had a week to look at it and see there was something wrong.

Well, the voters do the dq requests... and it took a voter to notice that your signature was on it. The request then goes to the SC who take a look at it, discuss it then dq if it does not fit the rules. IT is NOT their job to preview each and every photo to make sure you stayed in the rules. thats YOUR job and when you dont do it .. the voters will do it for you by a DQ request.
So instead of being mad at the SC, be mad at yourself

Actually, I don't think we can even see your entry before the challenge starts unless YOU request it, so it's kind of a moot point. |

I never said I was mad. Please do read my posts. I am NOT mad or angry. And now that I know how it works, it's ok, I don't think that I should be told in advance anymore. (Many people who answered this thread do seem angry, though.) |

There is a very simple reason. There isn't any THEY. |

The they you are referring to are the voters. There is no other they to pre-check your work and make sure you've pulled up your pants and wiped your bottom before the start of the challenge.

Now Spaz...it's the other way around or else things might get messy. Do I need to send someone to check on you? ;)

No worries. The SC is already looking into appropriate measures. |
