There will always be those few who can't understand the consequences of their actions.

Until I get a camera over 1.3 megapixels, ANYONE with higher quality gear than me is getting a one!

Hehe, just kidding. I am new here, but my general voting is everything deserves a 5 or 6. Then I move the grade from there. I treat it like EV.... it it don't need adjusting, leave it as is.

As I am new to all of this, many of the technical masterpieces will fly right over my head, and the eye-candy will catch my votes. But i can learn. And I look forwardx to many MANY comments telling me why my photos are just plain crap!

:)

Be gentle with me...

But understands. Not everyone here is pro-level photographer material. So it may not be a sway vote, just an uneducated eye.

arnit....

Do not take those ones serious.

I would have been very pleased to get as nice a shot as yours and most photographers of any skill would have as well.

I think you know that is what caused such a disturbance to many..They just couldn't wrap their mind around the fact that someone out there in a world of 6 billion people might have been able to get a shot like that legit :-)

I just went through and looked at the scores on many of the advertising challenge. What's with all the ones and twos on submissions that clearly met the challenge? It seems to me there are some people that are quite liberal in their low scores. My submission in the upside down challenge isn't among the best as usual but a 3.40 average? Come on people, give folks a break. Maybe I'm a freak, but I tend to give out more scores between 5 and 8.

I saw that too. I'm only at a 4.58 right now, which I expected. There are certainly alot of undeserved low votes in every challenge. My previous goal was to get an electronic ribbon. Now my focus will be on shooting a pic that gets no ones.

*Sigh*... my first submission is hovering just under 4 at the moment. I just want some comments to tell me why...

I feel as though I rate more 7s and 8s than anything else. I've rated two photos 1, I think, one in each of the challenges I've voted on (disregarding this one so far). My reasoning was simply that I found them to be ugly, with no redeeming qualities (humour, imagination, flair, etc.). I don't think that's unreasonable, is it? It's certainly subjective, but everyone's votes are. Why would there be the possibility of rating a 1 if we're not supposed to use it?

Apparently my photo for upside down was way over someone's head as I just received a comment about it not meeting the challenge. Ironic since I composed my shot so that there is no way that it could be considered right-side up. Here we go again! I love you guys. . .I really do!

I didn't say we weren't supposed to use the 1 or 2 rating. Look at the scores on the ad challenge and you will see 1's and 2's galore. I just think that we should only vote that low on the photos with no technical merit or the ones that don't meet the challenge. That is my feeling on the matter and for the record, I have given a few ones myself. They were either disqualified later or were not rated high by anyone.

Some people must be going through and voting extremely low on anything they don't think is absolutely perfect.
