I just took this photo of my cat boots. I've been working on his eyes- I tried and tried to remove the glazed look and balance the color of both, but have had absolutely no luck. Anyone want to give it a shot?
Here is the photo with no mods other than a resize:

Yep- I use CS. I think my issue is that I'm missing some little tool or how to use it :\ |

Thanks, Kirbic and DD. Both are great!
Kirbic- the depth of the eyes is incredible. I really think I need to familiarize myself with more tools in photoshop. I still haven't even figured out what masks, layer masks, quick masks and whatnot are.
Thanks again guys! |

Just saw the second one you added to your post, DD. I think I prefer that one over the first. The color balance between the eyes is perfect. Great work and thanks a lot! |

If you want to learn how to do it, PM me your email address and I'll send you the Photoshop file with the layers.
1. Duplicate eyes (pen tool is my preferred method)
2. Apply Unsharp Mask to left eye (about 90%, I think)
3. Apply Unsharp Mask to right eye (about 40%)
4. Add hue/saturation adjustment layer to left eye (colorize, -46, -13, -5)
5. Add hue/saturation adjustment layer to right eye (colorize, -50, -14, 0)
6. Blur rough edges of both eye copies
7. Apply gentle curve adjustment on whole image (hard to define, you'd have to see it)
8. Apply levels adjustment layer to whole image (7, 0.78, 203)

And now for something completely different... it needs more work on the definition of the eyes, but that really needs to be done at full scale, and anyway I donno if the very bright eyes are worth it LOL. But here ya go:

Nice bear....all I did was adjust brightnes/contrast to -10/5 to each eye and colorized 33 / 96 and messed with levels on the whole image.

Thanx, guys. Mine is pretty extreme, so it's not "realistic", but it does bring the eyes up to allow the image to have a dominant focal point, which was lacking before.

I did an AutoLevels first, to try and get closer to the "true" color of kittys eyes. I decided they were really close to the shade seen here (could be wrong) but that different light sources were causing lots of color conflicts, which happens a lot in cats eyes.
Anyway, to get the eye on the left looking more like the one on the right I selected the muddy upper portion (lasso tool, feather of 3 pix) and adjusted the color with color mechanic, then selected just the lower portion and adjusted with color mechanic. To me, the balance looks natural enough to not be overly disturbing as it is, but it could be blended better. |

That's pretty natural looking, mac: nice leveling work. I think they prolly need some warm in 'em tho, albeit not as much as I juiced 'emw ith LOL.

Thx Robt.
I'm curious to hear if the color matches the cats eyes as they really appeared in that light. With auto levels you never know. |

Excellent job. The eye color is actually looks like his natural color. I'm surprised! |

Okay, here's kitty morphed into a blue-eyed babe. Note the addition of a gaussian edge to the eye selection, so they look more natural now.
