I've shot with this model before but she'd never been to the studio. She, her mother and her grandmother all came over this afternoon and we shot for a few hours. Here are just a few shots we got. I'd edit more and post them but I'm behind on editing wedding photos so I made a fast pass at a half-dozen or so images. Thanks for any comments/critiques.
There are several more that I hope to edit and post sometime this week.
Thanks,
Kev

hmm, something about the lighting i dont like, the subject seems underexposed to me, perhaps dodging on the eyes a little on some of them would make it stand out as well
good shoot though, nice poses
edit...
in #4, i can see the ceiling fan reflection ;)

#2 is my favorite. Great job. I realize portraits are tough. |

The exposures look fine to me. Maybe the monitor you're using is dark. Increasing monitor brightness may help. |

I had a quick go with curves on one of the images.

I'm afraid I have to agree with xion when it comes to this particular set. The curves makes a big difference. |

I find them a tiny bit dark as well... but she is certainly a beautiful young lady and the pics are all very well done. On the 2nd one, might I suggest cropping it up a tiny bit on the bottom to get rid of the armpit line entirely? Something about armpits...even the tiniest bit of one...just seems unflattering even to a gorgeous girl like her. Just my thoughts. Great work! :)

I respectfully disagree. The tones of her skin are fine in his version. The curves version gave too much emphasis on the face. The curves version looks like she has a great tan on her body, but the tan missed her face. i.e. uneven skin tones.

I appreciate the enthusiasm but not so much the effort of editing and reposting.
Often my taste runs to images other find dark. I find Xion's edit entirely too bright and bordering on loosing detail in the white lace and around the lips. I like the deeper tones of the original post but I know there are many who like images to run lighter.
Thanks for the comments,
Kev

Good catch. I'll make that change and repost later.
Thanks,

Sorry about that Kevin. I wanted to show how it looked with the suggestion. I am removing that now. |

I didn't even notice the armpit until it was mentioned. I am mesmerized (sp?) by her eyes in this photo. :)

Doesn't it seem that there is to much blue in the whites on the second picture? Her eyes, teeth and shoulder straps all have a blue tint. |

Xion,
Got you PM. Thanks and I'm sorry. I appreciate your taking time to look at these and taking the time to give me your comments and you take on this.
I can only say that I've been editing wedding photos, sold 2 more weddings, shot for 4 hours today and was just at the end of my rope what with facing editing more wedding photos and then heading into work tomorrow. Sorry for snapping like that. It wasn't nice especially considering that you were commenting on my work. I appreciate your effort and no hard feelings from my end.
Now I'll be glad to read any comments, critiques or other edits tomorrow. See ya'll and good luck in your upcoming contest.
Thanks,
Kev

yes. eye whites are r184 g191 b208
teeth r184 g191 b208
shirt r195 g213 b237
compared to nfessel's profile picture to the right and just above the white part of the skyline, just when it's turning blue r188 g224 b238.
It's ok if you like what is naturally white being blue, but there is a blue tint to those areas.
