Hi All,

this is my first effort to post anything here so please be patient with me..... I'm not sure if the link has worked... it didn't in the preview but looked the same as some others....
Anyway, if you can see the image I would apreciate any feedback on the composition, technical aspects etc... anything constructive really... I'm new to digital but have been using SLRs for about 20 years...

Thanks,

Todd.

I don't think I would change anything about it compositionally... the compositional decisions are yours and if you accomplished your goal with this composition, then it is a good one :)

Technically, the depth of field is great... The image could possibly use a tad more contrast, but too much will lose some detail in your darker areas...

I like the scene in general :)

Don't think I'd change much at all - the low-ish contrast helps enormously with a shot where the tonal range is what's most important -- to my eyes.

Compositionally, I think the bloke might be a little far out of frame, but I'm also not sure that changing it would work with the rest of the image - those trees primarily. Perhaps I would crop a little of the left edge of the image ...

Nice, placid, gentle shot.

It seems you just used your new digital camera exactly the way you would have done your film SLR, which is fine if that is the reason to change to digital. However, if you want to make the picture or the presentation more interesting since you have all these digital niceties, why not take a couple of shots in quick succession and have the man walk through the lane (using superimposition of images) or anything crazy that enables to tell a story in one or more (constructed) pictures? In digital a picture more or less doesn't cost you anything, but it can make for better results.

Nice shot. nothing 'waow' in it but a good "atmosphere?' due to the tones I think. I would prefer the person without the bag but .. nothing you can do about that.

Are you going to change pseudo when you will change cam ? ;-) ;-) ;-)

I would crop the left close to the first tree and a little off the top. Technically its good(color, contrast and DOF). I like it in b&w better and with smart blur applied(I played with it in PS).

thanks for the comments.... yes, I think it could be cropped a little tighter now that you mention it and I think that it would look better if the guy wasn't carrying the plastic bag.... thanks for the feedback, hopefully you will be seeing alot more of my work here shortly.

Actually, I did say "wow" to myself. The soothing tones of the stone and other elements really jumped out at me. If soothing tones can jump, that is.

Nice photo... I agree with John tho, a *bit* more contrast.

Great image! A little more contrast? perhaps... but it's really quite nice as it is. The composition is great as far as I'm concerned, and the clarity is stunning.
