Firsty....
I offer my condolences.....*yikes*
I had a friend who got totally screwed by the IRS in the dotcom days thanks to a !@#$% up law that they fixed the next year. But basically a few hundred people from the dot com era got hit by it. Essentially, he worked for a dotcom and received stock option valued around like 1/2 a mill. The IRS taxed him on those options even though he did not sell them. 6 months later the stocks were worth $4,000. Anyways, the IRS demanded taxes on 1/2 a million dollars my friend never even had.
Of course, the IRS being the monstrosity it is demands all the money. So they have to cash out all their savings (even take out loans I believe) to pay the IRS. They go to court to fight it and the judge decides that they should not have to pay tens of thousands in taxes on money they never actually had. So all's good right?
Nope, although the IRS demands all the money ASAP they are paying my friends back the $40,000 over 20 yrs. I swear....can you get any more screwed up than that. Now please tell me why we should not get rid of the IRS and go to a better tax system. |

No Refund / owe from my side... but my older Nokon 5700 blew on me. So I used the beg-borrow-steal policy... Begged my wife to approve this (300D) purchase while giving a sad face that how will I continue my hobby. Once that was done, borrowed some from her, and finally stole some money from my savings for other reasons.
:-)
Hope this helps for some...

Lessee..the state owes me $1. That don't buy coffee these days.
Local taxes...I am overpaid from last year, so that extra goes toward the first quarter 2005. At least I don't have to spend any money on this one.
Federal...good newsd here. There is some financial reward for having a mortgage and 2 kids - the tax refund! All you single people must be paying for the Fed's war on wahtever it is this week, cause it aint me! Between my wife and I we are geting back all but $1021 of the federal taxes we paid last year! Now the downside to having a mortgage is yo have to maintain the house...so some of the omney is going there. The kids get some in teh form of a family vacation (I'll take pics - so does that make it photographic?)
I am hoping to squeeze out a memory card and a sigma 70-300 APO lens. And replenish savings/pay off what i already spent this year on the 'hobby'. Might convince the wife to get a new printer this year.

makes it real hard to save for a camera when you have to save to pay your taxes |
If you owe that much, you must be making a ton! Or need a better accountant.
