It's that time of year - TAXES - just curious, how many of you are hoping for (or already received) a good size tax return with the intent of putting it toward a new camera or new camera equipment?

If so, what are you looking to buy?

I myself am hoping for a return in hopes of acquiring a Canon 20D kit and battery grip...

man you are WAY behind. I got my REFUND back in February. When I have money coming to me I dont mess around.

I paid off my credit cards and kept a little to put towards my new home

If it's a nice, big return I'll get a 20d. If it's a medium size then I'll just restock my savings account from the dip it took with my 16-35 f/2.8L and (pending) 80-200 f/2.8L purchase.

Saved for 4 1/2 years to buy my DSLR. Always had to use the money for something else before I could spend it on my camera (braces, new washing machine, car . . .). So I took my tax refund and quick went out to the store. Didn't come back until camera (and card and extra battery) was in hand.

w()()t....

just got back from H&R Block after 3 hours +, i'm getting a $2K+ refund...

So it looks like I get the Canon 20D over the Rebel XT. And should have enough for a lens or two, battery grip...

I offered my g/f my old setup but she still seems locked into film...she's considering it but sounded iffy.

I wonder what I'd get for my Olympus E-20N in mint condition. With battery grip. FL-40 flash. Flash brace extender. Remote. Couple of extension lens....

???

Guess I should check ebay for going rate...

TAXES???Give me a brake, I just retired last year as a Dutch Government taxoffice employee and I'm enjoying a lot of free time since May 1 2004, LOL. But....we'll get a refund (about 2000 euro's)and will spend it on a heavy chopper because I finally have time to get my garden in order.

Got mine in February - had enough to get a SB-800 flash from federal refund. Unfortunately owed about $200 to state taxes or local taxes (don't remember) so now my refund has become a car payment instead. yay.

a refund would have been nice... Certainly better than owing 5k

I get to file an amended return next month, and it will bump my return substantially. Does a new computer count for photograpy equipment? How about when the mainreason is to better work with Photoshop? Am I totally nutz?

Remind me next year not to wait until the absolute last minute to do my taxes on the web. 3 hours now! You all thought DPC was slow...

On another note, you can deduct manure spreading equipment in the state of Maryland. Incentive enough to move here?

I sent my check last month. :(

The only thing making this worth it is that I am getting a crapload of MY OWN MONEY back. I really have to change my deductions at work.

oyster aquiculture is also deductible.

We have lots of manure spreaders in the Ottawa area... they are all on Parliament Hill and are called politicians.

I send them a $4,500.00 check every 3 months :(
makes it real hard to save for a camera when you have to save to pay your taxes

I live right outside DC. Far enough not to step in it but close enough to smell it.

I know what you are saying.... I guess if there is one advantage to be had here .... it rests in the fact that it gets so cold here in the winter that you can actually get to see a politician with his hands in his own pockets.... :O)

I would put in one of those little dancing spots laughing his a$$ off but I can't even get my pictures in here right so you will have to make due with my description of it.
