As many of you know, I'm a book designer as my current trade. I've just had confirmed a contract from a publishing house to do a coffee-table book of images of "woodies". We have a budget that will allow us to pay $100.00 per shot included, and are planning on 200 images in the book. The cover image will be worth $500.00.
The book will be lavishly produced, and is intended to be both humorous and mysterious in nature. I will be writing the commentary for this book as well.
Unfortunately, our production deadline requires that we have the whole package together within a couple weeks. When I submitted this project to our publisher I didn't expect such a rush, but it seems that another book in their list has had to be scratched, and they agreed to publish this one based on my willingness to to create it in such a limited timeframe.
Please post thumbnail links to your best woodies here. I already have 50 or so in the compendium (they were the basis of the proposal) so need about 150 more posthaste, and it seems like DPC is a likely place to generate a few...
Thanx, Robt.
Addendum: as explained much later in this thread, this has been an April Fool's joke...

This is my best one.
I've got better edits available at full size, which sadly is only 1.92 megapixels.

Yesterday? Time is of the essence... If I got 150 woodies of acceptable quality in the next two hours I'd take 'em and run...

I've seen several of these 'woodies' on photos on here....but up until now I didn't know that was what they were called. I take it they're legit....I thought of them as some kind of gimmick...nothing serious..... Are they just for .... anything? Or is there a real purpose for them? Sorry....I'm just curious....seemed like a good thread to ask :)

Woodies have been around since medieval days. Artists use them to "pose" the human figure so they can sketch more naturally. Are they "legit" in DPC? They are usually used to amusing, sometimes mock-heroic, purposes...

Oh my gosh, I must be totally out of the loop. Who would have guessed there were so many people out there taking pictures of little wooden dolls? I don't even know where I would get said wooden dolls.

I always thought a "woodie" was a wooden sided station wagon from the 40's and 50's. What happened to reality. Guess I'm just getting too old.
