Perhaps opening this up a bit: how about "Sacred Spaces"?

Under the idea of food, how about candy?
In the more conceptual range, we could try power.

How about "Hands", "Electronic Equipment", "Glassware", "Ice Cubes", "Jewelry", "Automobiles", "Packaging", "Telephones", "Musical Instruments", "Sculptures", "Onions", or something more general such as, "Illustrate an article on healthy beverages", "An Intimate Dinner for Two", or "A poster suitable for a dining or eating area". |

How about "self portrait"? Or would that affect the voting because we'd know who it was?

self portrait is so challenging, and there's a lot of thrills in giving a score... |

Book/play titles (a la song titles).
Please, let's not have a sepia challenge.

I like the ideas on Book/play titles and sacred space.
We could do "au natural" and see what comes up :)

How about rivers, streams or other waterways such as canals, but not oceans, lakes or beaches.
or
things growing from the ground up such as trees, grass, weeds, bushes, cacti, tulips, daffodils, etc. (notice I did not say flowers?)

great list! I really like "sound", "weather", "patterns", "shapes", "a week in the life of" -- or other multi picture challenges, "movement or action", "private investigator" -- but don't get shot scoping out drug deals, "places of worship -- worship of false idols -- sacred places" which are all the same thing, "power", "science", "hands", "science fiction", "book titles", "abstract", and "self-portrait"
Some other suggestions:
crowds
through window (or glass, etc.)
sets of 3 photos that tell a story
magazine covers (with title of magazine in title)
personal or artistic
crime
magic
dreams
kodak moments

If we're going to have monthly challenges with no editing rules (as suggested by the recent poll) then we could go back to the Monochromatic Tryptic (sp?) idea that was flying around a while back. I still need to try it : ) |

I would be quite fond of a Sky Challenge or a 'Take the best photo of your pet' Challenge. |
