Think Outside the Box. Your challenge is to think outside the box for your photo.

I see so often discussed in the forums about how "thinking outside the box" is good or bad, or how someone talks about how they got slammed for it, etc. etc. Might be kind of interesting to see what folks would come up with for such a challenge. :-)

You are not serious, are you? :)

Is it the same as "Breaking new ground" or along the same lines? Or are you not serious?

For this one, I'll take a picture of a box... Just to be perverse...

Think outside which box? You haven't given us a box to not be in in the first place. Do I choose my own box? Do I wait to see what the general concensus is in the forums before selecting a box. Does being in one box count as being outside another box? ...

Well, if we were to do that challenge, there would be no less than 14 threads started to discuss what box, what the dimensions of the box should be, what a box is by definition, abstract interpretations of said box, and how many photographers would fit in the box if we could ship it to the moon.

Personally, I've had my forays out of the box and find that the voters much prefer me to stay inside it. ;o)

A good example of getting knocked for thinking outside the box is my entry for bridges "South Bridge."

//www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=147286.

I knew that the photo would do poorly (I'm surprised how many people actually got it.

If there were to be an outside the box challenge, then there would be a particularly strong emphasis, obviously, on the naming of the shots.

actually, I am serious about the suggestion though. :-)

it would be fair too, 'cause then the people that think "inside" the box could get slammed !!!

That is something you should do on EVERY challenge.

If we combine the

"Outside the box" challenge
and the "Cemetary" challenge

What are we going to get pictures of? Inside the box may be more interesting.

it could be along the line of "breaking new ground"
you could be innovative, creative, humorous, literal, figurative, whatever....
