One of my sweetest and dearest DPC buddies is undertaking a big and heartwarming project in the fall, and is a bit shy about celebrating the news with the rest of the community. I thought I'd step up and let you folks know what's going on. In October, June will be completing the Susan G. Koman 3-Day Breast Cancer walk in Tampa, Fl. It's such a wonderful event and great cause, and I am so proud of her for doing this. The money she helps to raise will absolutely save lives, there is no doubt. If you have a moment, and an extra dollar, please consider donating something to help support breast cancer research, treatment, education, and prevention.

She's got a goal to reach by September, and I know that the DPC community always comes through when they are needed most. Here is the link to her personal page for the Walk. Whether you can spare a dollar or more, it's appreciated and will go to one of the worthiest causes I know.

Good luck, June!!!!

Thank you very much Laurie, you said it better than I could ever have. I would like to add that besides my personal donation, I am also donating all the profit from the sales of my prints until September. I don't personally know anyone who has had to endure breast cancer but I am a woman and I have two sisters and a mother and any of us could have to deal with cancer in the future. I know that I am not alone and that most of you have a woman or two that are very special to you, be it your mother, your sister, your daughter, wife, etc. Do it for them. Do it for their daughters so that we may one day not have to worry about breast cancer.

Chiqui,

I walked in Chicago in August, and I thank the DPC community for their support when I walked. I hope that they pull together again for this noble cause. I lost my wife almost 3 years ago to breast cancer, and will do the walk again in 2006. For you going this year, I will pledge $500 toward the $2100 you have to raise. You're a quarter of the way there June!....

Now get to training! :-)

Wow Danny,

This is about the most unselfish and the kindest gesture I have seen on this site in my short time here. I understand the driving force too, and per our previous conversions, something struck a nerve and am reminded everytime I hear Angel.

It's a pleasure to share this planet with you, and looking forward to the day I can shake your hand.

A very noble cause indeed. I cant see how I can contribute as of now other than spreading awareness about the disease which I am actively involved in anyway through my lanlord(uncle) who's a leading breast caner surgeon in the country. I work with his organisation (as a volunteer) which has been actively involved in providing cancer treatment to the underprivilidged for years. Its really moving to see a disease bring people from above and below the poverty line to a mean level.

Danny, that is one of the most generous and noble deed I have seen in a long time. Way to go.

I just wanted to thank you for your support and to ask that if you are going to buy a print, use the referal system so the profit is greater. You can either go to //chiqui74.dpcprints.com or click on the link in my signature. Thanks again.

I wanted to bump this thread for our DPC Chat pal June, so I pledge $150 to the walk in memory of a friend of mine, Paige. Good luck, and bless you for being such a caring soul to do the walk.

Hi.

I would like to thank those of you who have made your donations....thank you from the bottom of my heart. I would also like to encourage those who haven't to go ahead and do it. I am not going to tell you what you have to do, that is really for you to decide. All I'm going to say is this, think about all those women and men who have not been as lucky as you or your loved ones, think of those children who have lost their mothers before they've ever had a chance to really know them. Think of your own daughters or sisters or wife....even think of yourself. If you could make a difference, if you could change the lives of those that are less fortunate, if you help find a cure and all you had to do was spare some money, would you?
Those of you who have had a close experience with breast cancer need no encouragement. For those who are wondering why I'm doing this, here's your answer.
Think about it.

I am so thrilled with the response June has gotten so far. The wonderful family of DPC members always comes through when needed most! We will be sure to keep this thread alive for her between now and September, to help her reach her goal. She's already nearly halfway there, and only two days into her fundraising!!!! You folks are awesome. I'm so honored to be a part of a community like this one. :o)

I also want to add that between now and September 1, I will donate any profit made from my prints to help her reach her goal to walk in Tampa. I am doing this in honor of my aunt Virginia and cousins Tammy and Theresa, all three of whom are breast cancer survivors, saved in no small part by donations from people like you. :o)

June,

This is a great thing you are doing. I promise it will be one of the most challenging and rewarding things you ever do in your life, but I promise you can do it. I've made a donation in support of your effort and in memory of a close family friend, Judy Goldstein, who passed away last year after a very long battle with breast cancer.

Feel free to IM, PM or catch me in chat anytime if you'd like to exchange training tips or moral support!

-Terry
