I had wanted to shoot this for the light challenge, but didn't have time. I bought the flowers on time, but didn't get to do the shot. I went ahead with it today, as I've wanted to do a white on white shot for awhile now. How do you think this would have done in the challenge?
Thanks,
JD

Gorgeous. Nice separation between the background and the petals. The way the petals are arranges is very nice too. Good work. |

It truly is beautiful. I wonder if a slight nudge to the right would compositionally improve it. At any rate, the exposure is perfect...very difficult for white on white methinks. |

What a great photo, one of the more unique flower photos I have ever seen. Great job. |

You should have duotoned it pink. Would have top-tenned for sure. |

Very nicely done indeed. It is often hard to get things just right when doing a white on white, and I think you got it perfect here.

LOL! I feel the same way, except a picture of a hotdog in 2003 that scored in the 4's!

I've never done a duotone, but I'm going to go try it. Any instructions???

I am very impressed. There is so much detail, and at NO point does the white of the rose disappear into the white of the background.
Awesome job!
Edited to say to Kylie: I seem to be following you around tonight *s*

Does anyone have a duotone tutorial?
Thanks,
JD

just convert the image to greyscale ... then convert it again to duotone, a dialogue box will come up ... click on the colors given ... choose white for the top color, pink for the bottom color ... you may have to mess with the contrast a bit ... that's about it
:)

I don't see why you'd want to convert it to pink... that is, unless you wanted to submit it to the pink challenge, which is too late anyway :)
gorgeous shot |
