I seem to be getting the same score in my submissions.. the last three looked like this
Movie Titles : 5.913

Bokeh: 5.912

Where's Waldo: 5.934

the current submissions, Architecture at 5.73 and Best of 04 at 6.001.
Now I need some change....well I think I know how to get lower scores, but how about some tips how to get it higher :D

Belive me, getting 6. somethings is just as dull. I want 7's and 8's

Last 2 challenges were around 6.5 and all 3 current challenges are the same, may hit top 20 but still not good enough to win so still drab to watch.

I'd rather have 5 straight scores of 6.5 than four entries below 6 and one 7.5. Consistency is far more difficult than getting a single high score.

Gaurawa- here's those tips you asked for.

I think I desperately need a ribbon to keep up the spirit to participate in more challenges.

Thanks Shannon, looks like a great post. Haven't read it all yet, but will spend some time on it today.

You're certainly capable- it's just a matter of time. Don't expect a ribbon to give you a boost. You'd be even MORE discouraged if you won a blue then struggled for the next 10 challenges. Jonpink is one of the best here as demonstrated by his consistency. A slight deviation from his average means either a ribbon or a respectable score- can't ask for better than that.

Perhaps you can take solace in three things like me. Finishing at least above the majority (60%), and you've been doing much better than that, constructive and appreciative comments, and most of all favorites (and you are amassing them quickly).

At least for me, if one or more people put a photo in their favs, then, I take that as a real indication they liked it, even more than an apreciative comment. In that case, I am usually appeased no matter what the score (ok, well almost no matter). That was true for several of my entries that scored pretty low, and my current best of 2004 which is going to be in the bottom 30% but it has two favs selected already. Now I just need that for my "Breaking Ground", which has the low score but nothing else ;)

I agree with you that having a photograph in someone's fav is a very nice experience and being a fav. photog is ofcourse much better. But what this means to me is that may be I am appealing to only a selected few, which is great, but as far as dpc is concerned, everyone is looking for a more 'mass appeal' which I think I lack at this time and I need to work on that.
