No ideas for the challenge. I was planning to take a high key photo of something for my photo-a-day and found the egg as my subject. Since I liked the overall effect on this shot, I searched imdb to find if there exists a movie called egg and there you go !!!
Post processing:
Hue/sauration: desaturate, lighten
Curves: lighten shadows
Levels: move gray cursor to lighten

The print is a retake of the photo I did for weekly assignment at FredMiranda

Greetings from the Critique Club.

I love this shot. The simplicity of the finished product belies the technical brilliance of the setup, which is probably why some scored it low.

The exposure for me (at least on my monitor) is just right and gives just the right amount of 'suggestion' of an egg without being too obvious. I love the way that the egg on the top right merges in with the white background.

The lighting is great with just enough shadow on the egg. Any more and it would have been too harsh, any less and it would have 'lost' the egg in the whiteness.

Good use of thirds and uses the extra white space to draw the eye to the subject. I could look at this all day.

The only thing I can say that I don't like is the title. Seems to me that many people scored others low on this challenge if they didn't know the movie title or it wasn't a famous movie. Also, many entrants took a shot of whatever and then trawled through IMDB trying to find a movie to match, which I suspect is what happened here.

That's a shame because I think this scored much, much lower than it should have for those reasons.

One last thing. People like to see the EXIF data which is missing here.

"The Near Invisible Egg"

Yet I am strangely drawn by this composition. It is a fantastic study in subtle shades and soft shadows. The off center composition is pulled into harmony by the shadow cast to the center. Well done.

Nice --- would like to see just a tad more contrast.

lovely -- like the way the egg disapears upper right, could use a smidge more shadow to the lower left to show more veriability in the shadow's intensity. one of my favorites this challenge

I gave this photo a score of 2 because it took about 10 seconds for me to realize that my browser had not loaded incorrectly and that I was looking at a submitted photo. I think the white egg on the white background is a poor choice. The photo seems harsh and is not easy to look at. I think this would be a good photo if there were some sort of contrast for the eyes to focus on.

I like the fact that you were able to get the exposure just right so that a white egg could show up on a white background - nice one.

High Key it is.... certainly has a sterile feeling (kind of ironic, being a good egg). Good job!

Almost perfect but the effect is alittle overdone. At least on my monitor.

There was a shot somewhat like this in The Egg challenge, way back: the first challenge I entered. I even put it in mym favourites. This however, achieves more than that shot did - to keep this extreme high-key, without a real feel of simple burn-out, and yet to keep texture in the eggg's surface, and a sense of progression through the frame, is work of extremely high technical prowess. A graceful, immensley likeable photograph.
