I enjoyed a couple of the images; the rest seemed like snapshots.
I really didn't care for the presentation at all.

yeah, i really like the shots with multiples of yourself, especially the headless one, but the rest of the shots werent' great and perhaps I am missing the overall point of the presentation and how it relates to your ego. |

As a mood peice, it needs better presentation and a sound track.
Perhaps the images would be better as a slide show, and some sounds in the distance (voices, air ducts, etc) would help the atmosphere. |

i don't know THAT much about website building (even if i did i would prefer the images to speak for themselves). but thanks for the idea (i've been considering getting high quality prints of these exhibited somewhere somehow... the originals are about 2' X 1'.). sound might help but really it's not meant to convey a mood. having said that: what "mood" do you experience in the dream state? the guy at the end is supposed to be the one dreaming everything (i've made another series where it's my cat dreaming up everything and he has lots of dead dogs in his dream)... much of his head is after all, not in frame (and according to the murnau of 'shadow of the vampire' therefore "doesn't exist"). if you want to understand: consider freud's concepts of "splitting" and of dreams' abilities to "fulfill wishes". there ought to also be a bit of a surrealist bent to some of the images, which i'm partial to because i've always observed surrealism to be quite understated and subtle (once you get past the novelty of a dalàpainting isn't it really just an intricate albeit impactful visual essay on one's reaction to an image?). it's not meant to be as serious as it looks (it is after all meant to be JUST a dream... because i really don't have split personalities, i just have a digital camera and paintshop pro) so maybe you would enjoy a second look. after all, how often do you get to have the exact same dream in succession? |
