Greetings...
I have a new project that I would like to explore and I need help from 11 other photographers.
The nature of this project is that 12 photographers are given an 'assignment' or sorts where each individual assignment is part of a larger theme. I have chosen a piece of classical literature (a poem) that I have broken into 12 segments. Each photographer would be assigned a segment of this poem and produce a photograph to go along with the text.
1. Each photographer who participates would be required to give me a full resolution, fully edited and post processed version of the assigned photograph.
2. I will take these photos and create a layout of the finished images. I will add the appropriate text to the images and produce a single high resolution presentation.
3. Each photographer who participates in the project will receive a full resolution copy of that presentation.
4. Each photographer who participates in the project will be given the rights to sell/market/distribute the entire presentation in unmodified form.
I would like to have international representation on this project if at all possible. If you think you would be interested in participating in this project, please respond to this thread. I will post the 'poem' I have chosen after I determine if there is enough interest in the project. If you feel that the unknown poem may not suit you, don't respond to the thread. This will be a sort of 'challenge' in that aspect :)

I humbly offer my imagination and my silver camera to this project, if you would like...
Edit: If I'm allowed to participate, you can mark me down as German (citizenship) or Canadian (residence).

This sounds really interesting ... I'm not sure if my photos are the "type" you want though. I'm also limited to a maximum "full resolution" of 3MP at best.
PS: Contrary to recent rumors, California is not (yet) a separate nation : )

Let me know what I can do to help out here.
A creative outlet in an artistic manner - I like the idea.

3mp would be fine. I expect that the 12 individual images won't be that large in the scheme of the entire presentation, so lower resolution cameras will work fine.

I sure hope you're able to corral some of those genius Eastern Europeans on this site...they constantly blow me away with the emotion in their photos! |

If you don't mind amateurs, then I'd like to participate. What time frame are you planning for?
I live within commuting distance of Portland Oregon.

Well I'd like to lend myself and my Nikon to this project, but Ohio is hardly international, so if you'd get some more international photographers I'd gladly step aside |

He beat me to it :-) I have a feeling he's more qualified than I am for this anyway.
P.S. I think I accidentally hit "report post" instead of "quote" when I tried to post a reply here. I knew I'd do it eventually. Sorry! |

I would love to be part of this, not sure my ability is up to the challenge, but please let me know if I can be of assistance.
I live in the sunny state of Florida in the US, so I guess I could be the southern US entry if need be.

The response here seems better than I had expected. A lot of you who have responded have not indicated where you live and it's not on your profile either... If you could update your posts with your location, it would be much appreciated.
If the participation is good, maybe we can do two and include more people...

If you can use an upstate New Yorker, let me know.
(And if there's anything exotic in my future, I'll let you know.)
As a new day dawns around the other side of the world, I'm sure you'll get more of the international crowd you desire...
Would it help or hurt to mention my degree in Creative Writing with a poetry concentration?

You will be an asset to the project :) Your insight into the poem I have chosen will prove to be beneficial :)

I'm in West Yorkshire, UK and a rank amateur photographer. So, I guess only if you get really really stuck? Still - doesn't hurt to register my interest :-)
(Ahh - and I do write poetry) |

This sounds interesting.
However I have no idea if I can capture something that will relate to a poem. Depends, obviously, on the poem and my mood.
How will you do it? Will you select the segment and send out to the participants, or do they select it themselves?
Anyway, I'm game for it, if I can have the option of chickening out if this sounds out of my league.
Bio: Iceland, Icelan-dick (he he, had to use this:) ), Masters in philosophy, a very amateur photog (have just had my first real camera for 6 months)

John,
I'm interested. Will the project be distributed to anyone other than the project participants?
I live in Pennsylvania.

I would hope not. "I" would not distribute the full res presentation beyond the photographers who help produce it. I would hope that the photographers who receive it would treat the entire presentation as 'their own' and protect it as they would their own work.

So this part

...refers to our own image only, correct? The photographer retains all rights to the photo and is granting you permission to use that photograph to create that presentation?

No.. My reference is to the entire finished presentation. If a photographer is not willing to give up the rights to an individual photo in exchange for the rights to market/distribute the entire presentation, he/she should not participate in this project.
