You're not alone. Both in outlook and score. But if I had an explanation I might embrace it.....

At least it can only go up from here.

Same here, 4.25 after 4 votes, maybe the voters assume the image should make them smile and they are in a bad mood?

You're doing great! I'm at 4.0 with three votes. Who knows - the winning might be 4.7!

As good an explanation as any!
I'm scoring on the assumption that the subject was something that made the photographer smile. I might not like snakes but if someone decides that a python makes them smile then I wouldn't mark them down!

Yeah, I got slapped around in the same way.

I've been around for twenty years.......enough is enough

I would like to petition that the person that gave everyone "1" or "2" for score should be permanently banned from DPC, no joke. I realize this score won't affect final outcomes since everybody seems to have gotten a score like that, but this behaviour proves two things.

First, this person is completely incapable of objectively reviewing artwork.
Second, this is a nasty, anti-social behaviour that creates ill will and ruins the atmosphere of this site.

I formally request that Site Admins review the person who did this and take action, because this is not something I would like to experience on a regular basis here on DPC, I will sooner leave.

I agree, it's ridiculous to give a 1 especially on a bunch of pictures.

Sometime ago this discussion came up especially around the time of the DPL competition. I can't remember who the member was but they said they go through the pictures the first time and use a method for grading each picture, then they go around again and rescore each selection. I don't know if this is the same individual or someone else but hopefully the scores will go up as more votes come in or this individual makes some changes. Unfortunately I am not in DPL but I have noticed that DPL voting can be more critical sometimes. I have a 4 after 4 votes but it just jumped up to 6.

I just checked the votes on the app and the 2 is now a 10 but on the Website the score still reflects a 2. I wonder if that's work of some sick hackers rather than DPCers?

PS It is now correct.

SC does review voting behavior as needed, but as previously mentioned some people like to go through the images quickly and sort them into 2 or 3 categories, then go back through again to "refine" their vote and (hopefully?) comment.

It doesn't matter (other than psychologically) how people record their votes during the week -- it only matters after the voting closes. If at that point you suspect someone has not voted according the the rules you can submit a ticket with details -- do not discuss in the forums or by PMs.

Note that if you are tormented by seeing your score you can turn off the its display on the front page by changing the option at My Home > My Preferences > My Scores (on the right side under camera/lens list).

Paul, I am not tormented, just disgusted. In today's world it is the norm, isn't it?

I believe that today's leadership sets a bad example ...
