Have any of you experimented with rear curtain flash synch? I'm looking for a cool idea for a photo challenge where the topic is slow shutter speed, but the 'extra' challenge to go along with it is using rear curtain synch with your flash.

Apparently I tried something like that 13 years ago (in a Minimal editing challenge) ...

ETA: I found a couple 3 more from only 12 years ago -- interestingly two are Minimal editing-compliant in Expert editing challenges -- what was I thinking?

I'm getting ready for an art show, so I can't go look -- but I remember entering a challenge of my son in the "rain". I did it at night, had my husband with a nozzel attachment on the hose squirting it up in the air. Used a flash from behind to backlight the rain with a bit of a longer exposure to streak the rain. Didn't realize that I needed to use second curtain flash, so I ended up with the rain going upwards!

Ok, I didn't have time, but I had to go look for it anyway.

Here's the rain falling up!

This sounds like a GREAT side challenge! Not so sure about the general community having this kind of gear anymore, at least in any kind of numbers to support a regular challenge. ???

That's a really cool photo! I'd love to hear more about the lighting on that shot. If the flash was coming from behind, what's lighting his face?
