Looking back over my "life" at DPC I realize how much I enjoyed some of the side challenges, in particular the November 2018 Square Crop Side challenge. If you'd be interested in joining a repeat of that challenge, sign up here. No subject prescribed, just a crop restriction. No pressure for a daily posting. Commenting and constructive feedback appreciated.

If there is enough interest, there is the question of timing. Should we make it part of our December festivities or hold off until the new year? Let me know your thoughts on that.

PS Penelope is my preference these days -- rather than Penny, thanks.

I use a square crop frequently. Not sure how many pictures I'll be taking other than for current challenges though -- can we post old ones which don't have comments yet?

I think that would be a fine addition to the challenge description. I suggest we try it and see how including those as well goes this time around!

I quite like square crops though I don't use one frequently. I'll give this a try. I think I'd be in favor of starting in January, but don't really know why as I have no big holiday plans or obligations:)

like. (first camera was kodak brownie, sq crop, actually stolen from my brother who didn't seem to mind. 1st pics: one of dog in car - persistent theme - and cat under azaleas).

Count me in. I think the square crop is grossly underappreciated outside of social media and album covers. :-D

Very good! I discontinued it four years ago, but, as the monetary one will, it's stayed in circulation even though I no longer use it. ;-)

I use square more often outside dpc.
Life will be very busy before and after the holidays (for different reasons) but I'll try to participate regularly

I used to shoot with a Hasselblaad 503 with a digi-back that was the original 16mp one, it was a 6x6 crop

It's great to see lots of people signing up already.

Expanding the criteria: In response to a question raised by

Generale, archival images can be included. The dates aren't being validated anyhow!

Plus, at GeneralE's request, and because I'd like this to be more rather than less inclusive, I've said yes to including previously submitted images that have no comments. I hope this will be a challenge where we give and get lots of comments and constructive criticism.

Any other suggestions?
