Don't know what DPL is all about? See more details and previous seasons here.
DPL6 registration for returning captains/teams as well as free agents registration is now open. We plan for the competition to begin with the Monday, August 4th challenge.
Last time around, with DPL5 we had 12 teams of 7 participants, in 2 divisions with 1 conference per division, meaning 84 players participating. We'd love to reach or exceed that goal this time around :-)
In the end, the number of teams/divisions/conferences will depend on overall response, but at a minimum we'd like to hit last year player/team participation levels, so we'll start with that expectation.
As we did last time, the Monday Members Challenges and the Wednesday Open Challenges will be counted in team scores. Members will be able to use their best score of 2 challenges, whilst non-members will have 1 challenge each week.
Dedicated team threads will be available so you can bounce ideas off your teammates and offer suggestions for the improvement of images. It's a terrific learning opportunity if it's done this way.
In the interest of making this competition as fair as possible, we encourage captains to choose their teams from the wide range of participants (i.e.: no team will be allowed to have all of its people from the top ten ribbon winner list present or past, etc.). In order to do this, we will be setting a cap on the maximum Avg Placement Percent PER TEAM (AKA Team Percentile Cap). That max is set to 60% for DPL 6.
Additionally, we will be encouraging ALL participants to be active voters during DPL please. We need everyone to contribute for this to be a successful, fun event.
So, let's get all the wayward DPCers back into the fold and have some fun this summer!

This sounds very interesting, and I'll register as a free agent soon.
Admittedly, I've only just skimmed the About and FAQ page, and there it says there's a minimum of 24 teams or 120 participants. It sounds like last time there were only 84 players, so I get that there's some flexibility there. But, well...the last few months have averaged no more than 40 votes cast per challenge--some fewer than 25. So I'm a bit confused. Is the intimation that there are at least 80+ active members here on DPC these days still, but only about a third of them are actually voting or contributing images to challenges? Or is this a bid to get new users registered to participate in the site as a whole (i.e., like the referral program)? |

Some specifics on the FAQ page have not been updated, but the general idea and structure should be the same.
One of the reasons for running this "extra" competition is that it does seem to entice many former or inactive members to contribute again. |

Unfortunately I don't know - but maybe your future team mates must be registered on the free agents list first????
I think if an invitation is available, it can be found under the tab "League/Overview/ at the bottom of the page

I want to "solicit [myself] to team captains" for the free agents' list as suggested, but can't see a link for that. :D
There must be one... it's my fault, I'm sure... but I can't see it. Others have "solicited" themselves.
I want to "solicit" myself.

| I see the league season starts Monday, August 4. What exactly does that mean? Is the first challenge of league play the one that is announced at roll-over at 12 A.M. August 4? Which would mean that the first results would not be known until August 25? Or am I misunderstanding completely? |

| I am still unclear about team percentile, what happens if team members enter challenges before season starts and get the team over 55% ? Or has the participant's percentile been fixed when DPL 6 was announced? |
