I was turned onto this program by a wedding photographer at a site I live on now. This is my first try - 5 mins of work.

Oh, PS. I saved it at a low file quality because it's for printing sizes. It's huge. :D Sorry bout that. But you can get the idea.

Just as an aside, if you're going to buy the program, please use:

This link for FotoFusion Pro

Or this one for Fotofusion Standard

That would be GREATLY appreciated IF you buy the program. I'm IMPRESSED so far!

How large is the original pixel-wise and is it a tiff or jpeg? Looks nice, btw. Is the background from the wedding?
11/20/2004 03:25:24 PM · #6
The originals can be sized up to 3900 x 5000 I believe. It's a .jpg

The images are all from the last wedding I shot. :)

Cool image(s) but seems silly to buy a program like that if (key word) you have Photoshop or a similar program. A collage like that is very easy to do.
11/20/2004 03:33:17 PM · #8
The one I posted is very simple, but you can change border width on all the pics, change the drop shadow's blur, depth, etc. You can brighten, darken, blur, contrast all the images including bg image as you go. There are mats for the dropped images such as a heart, a film roll, etc to add effects. You can also rearrange them VERY easily with any of the effects you want. I could upload a much more complicated one if anyone is interested. I was just excited. :D

Anyways - Photoshop would do this, but no way in 5 mins. This is a helluva time saver for magazine-style photo albums. I can do an entire 20 page album in like an hour. The same takes 5 or 6 in Photoshop and it's not nearly as good.

Sure, share 'em. I like looking at these things. Yea, it might be worth it if you do a lot of albums. I have a similiar feature with my HP software. I was playing with it the other day. It is fun! :-)

I just downloaded the freebie trial (hence the watermarks) but it is very easy to use and faster than anything. I'm very impressed. This would work well for my scrapbook hobby. Gonna have to buy it now!!! :o)

I have an older version of Lumapix Fotofusion. It's very nice, but I won't upgrade in protest for their spyware policy. Basically, it's phone-home-ware. Every time (or every so many times) when you try to run it it phones home and checks your license validity.

I buy my software but I find that an intrusive policy and I vote with my checkbook not to upgrade.

Plus, they insist, without you paying more, at having ads for them in things you produce.

edit: spelling.

Such as what? When you go over the size limits you mean? I think I can stay within 3900x5000, but who knows.

I just put another up at:
//www.pictureinfinity.com/folio.html

It's large, so I won't post it in here. :)

Well they made it much smaller after we complained loudly--but when you send an email collage, they put their logo on the bottom. I think they did something on the web pages you generate as well, but I don't use it for that.

It does it whether you use your own email or theirs. I have version 2.1.

Not in 3.1 it doesn't at all. I have 3.1 Pro and I can make my own banner, my own watermark, etc, if I want it. But nothing of theirs is on the ones I email. If anyone wants, I'll email them thru the program to see.

I see that's only the case in the pro edition--the standard edition for $49 has the ad banner that you can't remove. When I bought it there was only one edition--when we complained about the ad banner, the developer asked if we'd be willing to pay more to get one without the banner.

Personally, when I buy a product, I don't believe it should have banners at all. Maybe a free edition.

So again, good software, bad customer practices.

I'm willing to bet the new software also has the "phone-home" feature.

Edit: I should explain what's wrong with a phone-home "feature" besides the violation of privacy aspect: what happens when the company goes out of business, and your software phones home to check the validity of your license? Note that with this feature, this happens periodically, not just when you first "register" it.

Speaking of "phone home" privacy issues, I haven't really used Fotofusion in a few months, but opened it a couple of times for reference during this thread. It never crashed, but I received the email below today. Note that most other software has the courtesy to ask you if you want to report a crash. I presume the intentions here are good, though they suggest I upgrade (sales/spam since there's no fix upgrade) at the same time. Of course, the end doesn't always justify the means, and I don't like spyware.

Subj: LumaPix: Did you experience a crash while using FotoFusion?

Hello from LumaPix.

First, thank you for becoming a customer. We hope you like FotoFusion - we're very proud of it.

We think that your copy of FotoFusion has "crashed" recently - that it quit when you weren't expecting it to. FotoFusion detects when it has crashed and sends a small message to us saying "I crashed!". We have received such a message from your machine, so we suspect that something has gone wrong.

Please note: Your privacy is assured. We receive only a notification that FotoFusion crashed, which contains enough information to get in contact with you but no other personal information. We value privacy as much as you do!

Please make sure you are using the most updated version of FotoFusion by going to the "Help" menu and selecting the "Check for update" item. We are constantly fixing and improving the software so you should take advantage of this by updating.

The latest version is 3.0.

We want to ensure that you have the best possible experience with FotoFusion, and also that we isolate and fix all known bugs so that other users will not encounter the same problem.

Would you mind helping us isolate what went wrong? Simply reply to this email and tell us what happened.

Think back to when FotoFusion crashed, and describe the steps to the crash that you can remember. For example, if it crashed while you were doing an autocollage, the description might look like this:

* I started FotoFusion
* I chose "new autocollage" from the "new collage" dialog
* I selected a set of 10 pictures and clicked 'next'
* FotoFusion crashed

Even a general description of what you were trying to do would be appreciated.

We're sorry for the inconvenience and hope that you don't view this mail as an intrusion.

Thank you,
--The LumaPix Team--
