I saw several photos that did not meet the challenge.
The challege details stated "Reduce the world to a palette of grays, and focus on light, shade, line, texture and form"
Any extraneous color IMO would cause a reduction in score.

My comment referred to a yucky act and subject depicted, something that i think should not be done in public.
Your comment to my photo referred to the fact that you thought it was poorly done, not the subject. Then you proceeded with outright bashing. Without stopping for a second to even think about it.
See the difference? |

| My 2nd challenge, doing pretty well in my book. I look at photography as art and the photo should speak for its self. To quote my wife: Its all in the eye of the be holder. This challenge has so many excellent shots! Held all week around 6.0, 18 comments very supportive and constructive. Thanks everyone! Once over I would like to post a shot I didnt submit. This is great photgraphy community. |

| I may have found out I'm colorblind. I'm getting comments that my photo has some kind of color to it, but to me it looks completely b&w. Interestingly, to my eyes most of the other submissions look b&w but with a little magenta hue to them. So maybe my eyes are screwed up. |

All your comment said is "yuck", with no further expaination. As for my comment, ok maybe I shouldn't have said the "y" word. Bashing? If bashing means giving an opinion that the photographer doesn't want to hear - then guilty as charged. I gave you an honest opinion - that your image would get the brown ribbon in this challenge. Then I said better luck next time. That is what I truely believe, and it's nothing you haven't stated yourself on this very thread. OK, maybe a little harsh, but I don't think as harsh as the comments YOU routinely leave others. The fact that you rudely PM'd me is exactly why people don't leave comments on low-scoring (to them) images.

This is my second Challenge and my current score as seen above is only a 4.8393. I wasn't going to submit this image cause I felt it didn't have enough "Composition" But as the challenge stated, I felt I looked at light and shadow and texture quite well. Thought it may not do well due to the fact that people may not vote with that in mind and I was right. Probubly should have posted my other pic. Oh well, I'll know better next time to go with what will please poeple, not what I think fits the challenge description.

Ok now it's down .25 that's pretty lame -- I guess it's just people rushing through to finish up their voting. Unfortunately I guess mine just must be one of the last in their voting queue. :-( |

My worse score ever.
P.S. if your score's falling, it's probably because the people looking at it now just don't like it as much as the other crowd. I see no point in sugar coating it! lol Like on Sex and the City: they're just not that into it. |

No I'm pretty sure they're just running through throwing 4's 5's or 6's out there at the majority of the images causing my score to fall. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :-P~ |

Congrats! My score has fluctuated quite a bit this challenge - but now I'm on the down side. The usual last day slide for me. But I'm still ecstatic, because this is my highest scoring photo ever! Yay for me!
On a side note: I have to say that IMHO the number of "quality" photos in this challenge has been phenomenal. I don't know if it's just because of the nature of B/W photography, but I'm mucho impressed by almost all of them. So, who cares about having 600+ entires when they're mostly all good? |
