You placed the hippo (or whatever it is) a little better with respect to the tree in your entry, but the sky is blown there... tough call.

I'm not complaining about my finish :), but I was really torn between my entry

and this outtake

I really like the seagull in it, it adds another strong "forced perspective" element, plus it is not posed, a big plus in my eyes. But I really screwed up my framing there, there is too little sky over my wife's head. It would be trivial to extend the sky in post, but unfortunately it would render the photo illegal.

I nearly entered another fisheye shot with the tree a bit further away from the hippo's mouth and the sky wasn't blown in that one. The problem when I edit colour photos they always look unnatural to me. In the end I decided the one with the blown sky worked better.

Your entry was wonderful The seagull wasn't necessary.

I agree -- I think you could have legally given the sky a tint -- I usually use one or more Curves adjustment layers for that sort of thing.
