The former 5th-place image in the "Metal III" challenge has been disqualified. The photographer either didn't notice or forgot it was a Minimal Editing challenge and did some post-processing. Congrats to our new HM!

On a related note, yours truly had the same sort of brain freeze and had to DQ himself when he realized what he'd done. This is pretty ironic considering I posted up the challenge and therefore have literally NO excuse :-)

So funny . . . well, not really. I had mine in and was quite satisfied with it. Then about two hours before roll-over a dpc friend mentioned, quite in passing, in a message that the challenge was minimal. Oops . . . got it out just in time.

Did I ever mention that I hate minimal?

Commiserations to the DQees .. and to those who made last minute withdrawals.

The thing of it is, we even FLAG the minimal challenges with a bright yellow flag. Beyond that, I don't know what we can do to save people like me from our own brain farts :-)

I LOVE minimal challenges! I'm not saying I like seeing anyone get DQ'd though. That's not fun.

Same happened to me but saw it on time. I took those macro shots of the old rusted screw, focus stacked the whole thing, cleaned up and posted my picture. last day I discovered it was minimal and had to remove the picture, replacing it with only 1 macro shot.

In a further extension of the saga, one of the new 5th-place images has been DQ'd because a car ran over the photographer's laptop and ate the original...

On the plus side, if you can call it that, this caused me to realize belatedly we had a TIE for 5th, and so I have requested proof on the new/o/d new 5th. Here's hoping Jomari has better luck :-)

I think it's fair to say that having a car run over my laptop was bad luck LOL. It was in my backpack, WITH MY CAMERA, when it was hit. The camera only seems to have suffered a shattered filter, and the backpack was ripped and a zipper broken. The laptop screen was shattered and the case is warped and broken, so that clearly took the brunt of the impact. All replaceable with a bit of effort, and I didn't even bother getting mad at the friend who was driving when it happened. Truly an accident, and, well, $&#! happens. The DQ was just another bit of damage. Hopefully things will get better from here on out!

Ouch :(

sorry to hear that, I hope there was no other issue and everyone if they were in car were all good :(

Coming back to Laptop, Camera and other stuff you can claim those in the insurance and in case if your auto insurance doesn't cover then check home owner insurance they also cover personal property loss.
