Be honest... we all take fotos & think, heck, believe that it's gonna win a ribbon & then it doesn't.
Post your "I thought it would win a ribbon" shot here! Forget about how it really did, just post it!
Here are 2 of mine:

for the Portrait Challenge

& the Abstract Challenge

none of mine yet. but don't count out the underdog

Missed it by THAAAAT much...

I suspect that this one might have been ribbon-worthy for Wildlife, but I went with a grizzly instead since it seemed more plausible as something I might encounter in the wild (not that I'd WANT to...).

This is my favorite and I think it would have scored better with the original title. It was to anti-challenge I guess. It was a pleasure to take and a pleasure to post process.

This is the one entry I thought had the potential to win a ribbon when I submitted it. After looking at all of the other entries, I predicted an 11th and ended up with 12th which is my only Top 25 finish in 9 entries so far...but be careful, 'cause I'm learnin'!

Rooster, I think this one is amazing and should have scored much better than it did, especially in an abstract challenge. It's a great capture.

thanks jenesis! I really love it myself too!

I really thought this would win a ribbon, but it came in 4th. So I guess I got a green...

In Money.
(I thought everyone knew that eggs used to be used for trade, especially in poorer, rural areas. C'est la vie.

That's just bad luck. A great concept that's well-executed still depends on what everyone else comes up with. Run that same challenge 10 times, and your shot would have ribboned in 8 of them. It's a keeper. ;-)

Not saying this should have won a ribbon, but it was bang on topic and different. So, would this version have won?

i like the original, perhaps a different BG would have scored it higher.

I also think that this photo should have won a ribbon. So far, the only one in this thread. It was a great idea and very well executed.

Both are very good work, IMO. 'Skylight', however, is wildly interesting to me.
