 Sunset at a factory.

The colours are untouched...and no levels adjustments were made except to the factory to make sure it was fully silhouetted.

Edited out part of a tower on the left side of the picture in order to show the clouds meeting the horizon.

Did a little bit of burning on the smoke.

Then cropped.

Then you know what I did? I sold my soul and NeatImaged it because of the grain. I much prefer the grainy shot but I'm a whore for higher votes and submitted the smoothed out version because I think I'm starting to figure out the dpc voting crowd.

Once I get a top ten photo I will no longer sell myself out for votes, but until then...what can I say?

I like this photo, so hopefully you've all been kind to me in your comments/critiques!

Would have liked to see the eges of the smoke dodged instead of burned. Would have stood out nicely against the dark clouds and brought more focus to your pic's focus.

I didn't vote on that, and the photo is really nice, but I give your comments an even higher mark for entertainment. Very funny.

I only rated the photo a 5 in the challenge because I didn't feel the smoke played a "major role" per the challenge requirements. To me, it seemed as if the shot was of a gorgeous sunset and an interesting silhouette - and oh, by the way, there is a smoke stack in it.

That being said, I think the photo is great and you should be proud of it.

Darn....although I'm happy with this spot I was really hoping it would squeeze into the top ten! Take a look at my profile...I made a commitment to hold off on buying a digital slr until I got a top ten photo, but I'm lowering the bar. 12th is good enough for now...

My rebel should arrive this week. Thanks everyone!

The sky is so beautiful I think you lose the smoke from the stack - or is the subject the "smoke/smog" in the sky? Either the way, I still like the photo.

Silhouettes are gorgeous. The sky is fantastic. Not sure if the smoke plays a major role ... but who cares? The photo is beautiful.
