Maxi because I was the Max. and GHB from my initials Georges-Henri Bogaert
I used that one when I registered in 2003 |
Probably a good change, GHB is also known as the date rape drug.

although gbh is for great blue heron. :) |

And now I'm stuck with it, because I could never think of anything amusing/fun/etc.
However, one person did say they thought the va was for vavavavooommm! I like that. :) | at least your name isn't Gina. |

My husband (boyfriend at that stage, actually) gave me this nickname. He said I was "cute and curvy, made in Germany - just like the VW".
The nickname stuck, and it turned out really handy for the internet as well as real life - it is so easy to find neat icons, stickers, etc :-)

Mark was already taken so I thought about MarkA but I didn't want people to think I was Canadian so I went with MarkB. Or perhaps B is my last initial. |

I love the name Ashley for a guy :)
Penny Lane as in the Beetles song. My other user name back then ( games sites etc ) was Whopumped. Only the Scottish seemed to understand it though :P |

Mine came from my involvement with BACA (see www.bacaworld.org if ya like). One of my brothers saw my signature one one of our kid's bags (big swooping D and nothing else) and said, "What's that? Your name's PRETZEL? And you can't even spell it, huh? Just draw a picture?" We all laughed, but later that same day, I squatted my 6'4" 270lb down to get on eye level with one of the youngsters and he said, "Yup, just like a Pretzel... I like your name, Pretzel!"
That's when it stuck, and I'll never give it up.

I've used this "handle" since the stone age of the internet, back to the mid-80's at least. Never had another one, except that I started with "music_for_the_bears", which proved annoyingly cumbersome keyboard in.

Adding "2k" onto the end of your username was cool back then. I was into a game called Midtown Madness, so put the two together and there ya go. |

Mine is an ironic name, combining the legal profession with blindness, which would make it tough to be a photographer without sight, or at very least, a reason for crappy submissions.

Shortened version of my nickname that I've had since college. We made up nicknames for each other in the dorm. For some reason that I don't recall I became Cricket. It stuck. There were several Crickets registered here when I joined so crik became my DPC name. |

I used to belong to a folk dancing group called Dancing Bears whose name derived from the same quote, I believe. |
